Boone is not an underdog to Ryle IMO. It will be a ballgame. One team with a one-dimensional offense and the other with many weapons.

That was why I laid that post out as I did.

Both teams shot themselves in the foot.

 

Boone had two or three turnovers in the first half.

 

Conner had 3 red zone trips with at least two of them being inside the 5 with no score. Not only did they not score on one the defender ripped the ball from the back at the one and ran it back 99 yards for a TD to put Boone up 13 - 0.

 

Conner got back to 13-7 on a Barker TD run.

 

Boone then essentially ran out the clock with a LOOOOONNNG 4th qtr drive. Conner's D simply could not make stops on 3rd and 4th downs.

 

Boone can contend in NKY 6A. It's not the old one-trick pony offense of Boone yore. Schwartz throws as nice a ball as any QB in NKY. 2 or 3 good running backs and a solid defense.

 

I thought that play which was a 12 point swing imo just sucked the air out of Conner. Once they learn to finish inside of the 5, they will get to another level. I believe this team will be ready to make some noise in the 5A playoffs come season end. Conner had many opportunities to win this game. Good luck to Boone the rest of the season.

I agree and Thompson is better suited elsewhere in the offense.

Ryle takes this district easily. Dixie and SK will battle it out for 2nd but I don't think Boone is in the conversation.

Personally I thought Barker played well considering the circumstances. He didn't have many real "bad" plays. I couldn't have asked for much more from the kid. Remember this was his first varsity game.

Boone could be the dark horse to take it. Overall, I have Ryle picked right now. The way things have played out between the teams in this district so far, I believe that it is open to at least three, if not four teams.
