I just talked to someone that was at the game and was told:

 

-Boone ran the ball well

-Conner's QB didn't look near as good as advertised

-But Boone did a good job pressuring the QB

-Conner looks average

-Boone is definitely improved over last year

Both teams shot themselves in the foot.

 

Boone had two or three turnovers in the first half.

 

Conner had 3 red zone trips with at least two of them being inside the 5 with no score. Not only did they not score on one the defender ripped the ball from the back at the one and ran it back 99 yards for a TD to put Boone up 13 - 0.

 

Conner got back to 13-7 on a Barker TD run.

 

Boone then essentially ran out the clock with a LOOOOONNNG 4th qtr drive. Conner's D simply could not make stops on 3rd and 4th downs.

 

Boone can contend in NKY 6A. It's not the old one-trick pony offense of Boone yore. Schwartz throws as nice a ball as any QB in NKY. 2 or 3 good running backs and a solid defense.

Boone is 2-0 and they look like they will be a force in the NKY 6A district.

I thought we had closed the book on Conner? Suddenly a two touchdown win by Boone over Conner means Boone is a 6A contender? What gives?

Looks like Boones D steps up for the second week in a row.

In regards to Drew Barker and "not as good as advertised."

 

He ran for well over 100 yards. Showed very good poise in the pocket despite a strong Boone rush. Did a pretty good job of going through his progression. I had him as 10/18 before the last desperation drive where he had 3 long incompletions. His only pick was actually a smart play. 4th down at the Boone 20 or so and under heavy pressure threw the ball to the goal line instead of taking the sack. Boone picked it but took over at their own 5.

 

He put 4 scoring drives that got near the goal line together.

 

Ran like a man. On a few plays Boone simply could not take him to the ground with 5 or 6 guys in the scrum and the whistle was blown.

 

Made a few bad throws but not many bad throws. Had maybe 2 drops. Until the last drive didn't have any long attempts. I thought he did a pretty nice job considering the pressure he was under. Plenty of room for improvement for a 15 yr old kid.

 

He's going to be under the microscope since colleges are showing a lot of interest. He'll have to live with the criticism that comes with the expectations.

Good point. It may be more of an "everybody is down" situation rather than a "Boone is real good" deal. But either way, that district seems wide open to me this year.

If I'm counting right that's 6 giveaway's for Boone in the first 2 games, yet they are 2-0. The defense has been very good & the offense much more diverse than what we are used to seeing. If by "Force" you mean in contention, then yes I think they will be among several in a wide open NKY 6A.

And you have to add to that Boone was terrible last year.

I'm admittedly biased since I've known him since birth and like the kid a lot. He's as tough a kid is there was out there tonight.He took some blows but got up every time and came back for more. He'll get better and better (and bigger and bigger).

Boone is not an underdog to Ryle IMO. It will be a ballgame. One team with a one-dimensional offense and the other with many weapons.
