Who will win in 2006?????

Featured Replies

In 2a look for Owensboro Catholic to make another run, I don't know if they can win it but they will come close again. They return a lot of talented players on both sides of the ball and there are some young kids who have a lot of potential and can step in and fill the holes.

4A St X

3A Bowling Green

2A Belfry

1A Danville

:thumb: Bowling Green has great talent again next year!!.....I can't wait

Hopkinsville with the maturity at the QB position and with Emanual Taylor in the backfield, Hoptown will be hard to handle. This upcoming tiger team already has two transfers who started at other schools looks to be special. If it all pans out all of their skill kids should run under 4.6 fortys. Another addidtion will be TE Chad Brown who is 6'4 240lbs and cleans 260lbs two days ago.

Look for Danville in 1A

Look for Russell in 2A

Look for Boyle, Hoptown and Tilghman in 3A

Look for Trinity and STX in 4A

Hopkinsville is going to be tough simply by returning Taylor. I do not see them being as strong in '06 due to the experience factor. They lost a lot of 2 and 3 year starters this past season especially on the defensive side of the ball and in their lines. One thing you don't replace is experience. The QB position is key for the Tigers and while their QB does return and is very athletic, I don't see him being a lot better in the passing game. Their passing game consists mostly of screens and not much down the field throwing. That being said, Hopkinsville is always athletic and will present problems for most teams. It should be a battle with a much improved Tilghman squad once again for their district title.

Here's who I am rooting for

4A: Henry Clay...of course

3A: _________ as long as it's public

2A: _________ as long as it's public

Hopkinsville ran VERY FEW screens this year. When Clayton was here he was the screen lover but on 05 they didn't run much of their screen package. Chris Thomas struggled with the deep ball this year. BUT a lot of that was after he played the last weeks 7 weeks with a dislocated thumb and bruised hand on his throwing hand so that did affect his throwing.

The O-Line will be fine with Will Beville (starter returning), Jacob Johnson (started 5 games) and Caleb Johnson (started 2 games at C). This years backups are more then capable. Antonio Tolliver will move into a starting spot benches 340 and by next season will be higher.

Throw into the mix 4 key starters/rotation players from this year that wasn't with the team due to injury the last 8-9 weeks of the season.

Brandon Ethridge (WR/RB) speed guy fastest kid in the school.

Antwain Loving (WR/FS) best athlete in the school

Both of them are difference makers with "special" tallents.

Adam Briggs (SS/WR)

Michael Atkinson (WR)

The Tigers staff is high on next years team especially with the new editions to the program. Hoptown will be better in 2006 then they were in 2005. Nobody knows the Tigers players/program the one of their own. Will have more depth and more speed. Chris Thomas if he is the QB knows what he needs to work on and will do that. He just finished his 1st year of playing anykind of varsity football and broke the schools passing percentage record. Not bad for a kid that as a freshmen and sophomore didn't see the field in any type of fassion.

4A,3A,2A,1A...as long as it's Catholic. If not Catholic, then private will do.

Where did their transfers come from and what positions do they play? Are they pretty good athletes? The Qb is a heck of an athlete!

One is LB/FB from Logan Co. He played for them as a freshmen. Been here for over a month. Looks good and will add depth to the LB position. Will get better and stronger as he grows and mature as I said right now he's just a freshmen.

Also got an OL transfer from out of East Tennessee. Now he looks good and benches 340 and works hard in the weightroom. He has been here for 2 weeks.

AAAA: HC

AAA: Boyle

AA: OC

A: Harlan (for the first time in school history!!!) :ylsuper:

4A ST X

3A Highlands

2A Newport

1A Newport Cathoilc

There's a lot of Northern KY teams on that list.. Couldn't you ask for Boone or Dixie Heights and make it a clean sweep? ;)

Well, we might as well start making some predictions about 2006! Which team will win each class? I'll go first:

4A: Saint Xavier or Male (I'll go with Saint X)

I'm of the opinion that Male is going to be dropping a bit further down next year. They'll still be good, but definitely not better than T or X.

Ram2003 is right. Male might have the best player in the state in Beaumont but had nowhere near the supporting cast.

I'd say

4-A: X or T

3-A: Highlands

2-A: Russell

1-A: Beechwood
