Well, we might as well start making some predictions about 2006! Which team will win each class? I'll go first:

 

4A: Saint Xavier or Male (I'll go with Saint X)

3A: I can't say, since I'm such a homer that I will automatically pick Highlands

2A: Belfry or Newport (I'll go with Belfry)

1A: Danville or Beechwood (I'll go with Danville)

Trinity or X in 4A

Boyle or Highlands in 3A

not sure about 1 or 2A

2A: Belfry or Newport (I'll go with Belfry)

So you think Newport will come to Russell and have the kind of success Russell had? Maybe so, But I would think you definately have to consider Russell in 2A.

Russell has to be the early favorite, with Middlesboro a close 2nd.

 

Belfry needs someone to step up and be a speed/playmaker type and will need Jr to be QB Ryan Preston to play at a high level. The defense has good size, relatively good speed, and a LOT of experience returning.

2A- Russell

1A - NCC

I think that any team who thinks they can win and trys can win. :thumb:

You could make a case for Scott Co. to make some noise like they did in '04. They will have a lot more speed than in previous years. But I don't know if they will be able to get over the hump.

I think when predicting for 2006 you have to consider who gets to stay at home throughout the playoffs.

Can't speak for Danville (except I hope they take 1A next year) but Boyle County has a great and talented group of kids that will play next year. We will have some outstanding seniors next year that a lot of people will be hearing about!!!!!!
