Boyle County's new cutting edge weight room

Featured Replies

Amazing asset for this program.

14 Training Stations loaded with all the tools they'll need. Quite a few Division I colleges don't have weight rooms as well outfitted.

Boosters pay for this?

No the boosters did not pay for this.

No the boosters did not pay for this.

Who paid? Taxpayers?

Fantastic! How long have the Rebs been using it?

If the school wasn't funded for it then I suspect private donations took care of it. Yesterday Wayne first day of school and they didn't use it yesterday but I believe tw weightlifting class will begin using it today. No way did the boosters pay for it. Not possible plus it isn't a 'football' weight room it is a Boyle County athletics weight room and the boosters wouldn't pay for a weight room that my son can use in weightlifting class and during basketball season. My son says they should be using it in class and he is excited to break it in. Awesome addition to the school.

Yesterday was the first day of school.(I can't edit from my phone)

I remember when the first weight training equipment was purchased at Boyle. It was in a little storage room off of the gym. We had one weight machine with pullys for "pull downs," bench, "pully lifts," and a bar to do "up/downs." A year later someone bought free weights for a bench. By my junior year we had a squat rack. By my senior year we thought we were high tech with a "neck" machine and more free weights including some padded ones for clean and jerks in the hall way.

Congrats and I'm certainly glad the Rebels have come a long way.

If I am not mistaken, Boyle Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hester teaches a weight training class all day in which all athetes at Boyle have the option of taking. This is a great program that more schools should do. A lot of "academia" shun this as curriculum in public schools, but weight training is a life long endeavor and to me is totally useful as part of any academic curriculum.

Well there those who say they are serious about being the best football program.

Then there are those who prove they are serious about being the best program. Looks like Boyle falls into catagory.

I am sure it will be put to good use.

Put me in the "shunning crowd".

I think on the totem pool of academic pursuits, a “weight lifting class” would be near the bottom.

Actually the first weight room that occupied the same space was paid for by the QB club at that time.

Really? That's surprising. I'd say this was one was costlier and out of the QB Club's price range. I would think it was anyways.
