True but so far in his short career he has been better and he has started off better this 2nd half as well.

I agree and I belive it was M. Williams (mlb tv) that said with his speed if Stubbs would really work on the bunt that he could pick up alot of hits (maybe at least 1 per game) just by bunting. I agree with that.

What the really frustrating thing is that this Reds team, with the talent that is there now are imo just on the verge of really breaking out and winning the Central, possibly more. Stupid mistakes, not hitting in the clutch, etc. are killing the Reds...... That combined with an occasional one of Dusty's attempts to prove he is such a good manager.

Ken Rosenthal tweeted that the Reds are fielding calls about Voltron.

Also read that one source close to the Rockies think there's a 50/50 chance Ubaldo is dealt.

Also, what about a guy like Kosuke Fukadome or Nick Markakis? Fukadome is available, not sure about Markakis, but both would be big upgrade's over the current LF situation.

I can't imagine that Markakis is available, but I told someone today that Fukudome would be a cheap and decent add for the Reds and a couple of other teams that could use an outfielder that can get on base at the top of the order.

I wonder if they are looking for prospects or MLB ready players?

I agree....He seems to fit really well with what the Reds need. His arm alone makes him a huge addition to LF, and he'd also solve the leadoff problem and allow Stubbs to hit in his more natural 6th spot.

Stubbs CF

Cairo 3B

Bruce RF

Phillips 2B

Lewis LF

Hernandez C

Frazier 1B

Janish SS

Leake P

I think Leake is the Reds 5th best bat tonight.

Seriously, Votto really needs a day off? He just had one Thursday, not to mention an All-Star break just before that. :ohbrother:

The Louisville lineup might score more runs than this lineup against the Mets.

Yes to Markakis and no to Fukadome.

Yes to Markakis and no to Fukadome.

You don't want .374 OBP?

How is he cheap, he is owed $14.5m this year and a FA next so he would be a rental? If you could get the Cubs to eat some of the $$ maybe.

I don't understand his slugging pct. being so much lower this year. That said he hits lefties and righties about the same but I am concerned about his power. He is getting up there in age. I guess if the Cubs could eat some of the $$ and he was only a rental maybe he would help.

NO WAY to Fukudome. 3 HR, 13 RBI, 2 SB in 285 AB's. What good does that do you? Add in the salary and he is no great shakes defensively, if I recall. End of discussion.

Markakis is interesting although I don't know why Baltimore would want to trade him. But his OBP is about the same as Stubbs' so I would rather have Stubbs lead off with his speed and put Markakis down in the lineup where his more consistent bat could drive in runs.

13.5M this year but yeah he would pretty much be a rental. He gives you someone that could possibly lead off. Reds would only be paying about 1/3 of that salary.

Apparently the Rockies were asking for Hamilton, Mesoraco, and 2 others. Umm No thanks.
