Billy Gillispie...

Billy G invested and lost the most of any of the coaches named so far at 2.3 million...

That's just a couple of nights at the bar to him. He'll be fine.

If the Cats had to cheat to make the NIT under BCG I'm going to burn my BCG fan card.
Duuuuude, keep that thing. It has to be the last one in existence. Might be worth something some day, but probably not.

I agree with Matt Jones that it's a bit odd that they aren't even going to look into this when they spent time worrying about a post game award UK gave Calipari honoring him for wins. The ceremony meant nothing. This is an ex booster to some schools and a guy that could have steered AAU players to schools and the NCAA says nothing to see here, move along?

My thoughts exactly. And I would add into that the absurd investigation into the Nebraska football situation.

Wouldn't the NCAA have to show that a coach got players from the Houston AAU program to prove that the coach invested in part to influence his ability to land a player? How many guys did Billy G. bring to UK that played in this AAU program?

Here is a few of the other coaches involved and how much they invested/lost.

■ Sports Illustrated is reporting that former Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie lost as much as $2.3 million in the Ponzi scheme that entrapped several basketball coaches.

An excerpt:

More than a dozen current and former college coaches — including Texas Tech's Billy Gillispie, Arizona's Lute Olson, Baylor's Scott Drew and Gonzaga's Mark Few — are believed to have lost investments most recently valued at over $7.8 million combined with the late Houston-area businessman and AAU basketball operator J. David Salinas, sources close to the matter tell SI.com.

According to documents reviewed by SI.com, the value of Gillispie's investment alone was purported to be $2.3 million; Olson's, $1.17 million; Drew's, $621,000; Few's, $353,000.

Not necessarily
Not necessarily

Unless there is a paper trail, it will be hard for the NCAA to have anything besides circumstantial evidence to go on. You can see a kid from the Houston program going to a school and connect the dots, but if he steered kids from other programs, that would be tough to prove. According to the ESPN article, there is nothing wrong w/ him just investing. It is frowned upon once players start making their way to that coach's school
