Basketball season for 2011/2012 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Dixie Heights? Remember, please be constructive.

Dixie will be the cream of the crop in the 9th Region no doubt. With the returning players they bring back in Hassell, Stansbury, Hatton, Pike, Evans, Cohorn and the new addition of Jordan Fox at the PG position they will be very deep. Throw in a possible Zach McCormick transfer and they will be a well oiled machine. McCormick is only the 2nd best Soph to be in OH right now.

 

I can see a starting lineup like this. Pike-5, Stansbury-4, McCormick-3, Hatton-2 and Fox at the PG spot. Hassell, Cohorn, Bruns and Evans will be coming off the bench early and often to provide defense and athleticism. The only weakness I see is possibly having a backup in the post if Pike gets in foul trouble. With the perimeter scoring they will have on the floor, there may not be a major need for post offense or rebounding. LOL

Will Auburn want Pike to get there early?

Qryche, don't be surprised to see 6'3-6'4 jr to be Moo-Young come off the bench this year as well and be a contributor in the post and at the 3/4 positions.

I mentioned the frosh Niehaus in another thread...don't be surprised to see him spell Pike in the post and get some Varsity experience under his belt.

I figured Moo Young was the odd man out with the influx of young talent. Best of luck to that young man.

I think around 6' 3" 210-220 and still growing. If he picks up an 1" or 2, over the next couple of years, he'll be a force down low.

If you look on the KHSAA site, Dixie has a fairly brutal December schedule.

Toss in NewCath who might be the number 2 team in the ninth region.

 

They'll certainly have their work cut out for them.

I saw Hatton for the first time since the season ended. I think he actually thicker than a few months ago. Kid is a bull.

This may not be a good thing to be honest. The kid has always been thick, probably the thickest kid I ever saw play 5th grade AAU. He will need to increase his footspeed and his explosiveness if he wants to play at a high D-1 level. Or I guess he could grow a few more inches.

Not a big fan of this post. I am happy to see that the original was edited. Just not right to use this forum to judge a kid's and his parent's decisions. These are very private and personal decisions and I feel it's irresponsible to get on here and talk about a kid's Dad. What if he didn't want to leave his friends as you claim? Is that a bad thing? How do you proclaim to know what's best for his future and not his Dad? Do you have kids? What coach wouldn't want a player of Zach's caliber? How do you know he could of accomplished something great? The grass is not always greener you know. He is a fine player and will have a very bright future no matter where he chooses to play his sports. Let's not use this stage to speculate and demean.

Sounds like Dixie will only have one transfer (Fox)...that puts them in a tie with CovCath for transfers.
