Not a generational thing at all. Most people I know love Bilas too! You talk about him not having an impressive basketball personality, and I think that is what makes people like him. He is not someone that will overhype teams like a Vitale, or really create more attention on him than the game itself like a lot of these other personalities. He is not someone that you really can see him favoring, if he see's a flaw in a team he will straight up say that even about Duke. That is why most people I believe like him, is because he just really says how it is and doesn't favor one team or another like most would. Most of these guys you can easily tell that they really just love a program, or really can't stand a program by how they say things. You really can't tell that with him. I will agree though that he probably shouldn't do much with the NBA Draft though.

It is not the Duke thing for me, find me one UK fan less anti-Duke than me anywhere. I just find Bilas very smug when he talks about anything and most of my hate for him comes from when he talks about the NBA. He couldn't believe the other day that the young Hanbrough brother hadn't been drafted for crying out loud.

I know your an NBA guy, so I can definitely see if your basing it on that why you wouldn't like him. When it comes to his take on NBA things, he is not the best.

I have a love/hate relationship with Bilas but last night when he said that Tompkins' 15% body fat is good if he was sea lion that was the funniest line of the night.

 

My favorite was the first time he mentioned "wingspan", then said "bottoms up"...:lol: I've decided next year, I'm trying the NBA Draft drinking game. :lol:

Of course, but you ask a majority of people and they will tell you the same, even if it is just their opinion as well. Bilas knows the college game and knows the interworkings of the college game. He don't play favorites and he tries to tell it how it is. He is very good as a college b ball analyst.

Bilas definitely doesn't play favorites and I can respect that. Thus my love/hate relationship with him. Last Thursday was the first time I ever heard him publicly take up for Duke while working.

I think if you polled college basketball fans, Bilas or Bill Raftery would come out on top of the color analyst category, with Gus Johnson winning the play-by-play.
