You just got carried away and made an over-the-top generalization, without seeking any explanation. You should probably stop and ask questions before you jump in and tell someone what they believe. How is it taken out of context?

This country is supposed to be a country in which the church is separated from the state. Thus, using "God said not to" as a defense for somethings illegality isn't really applicable.

 

Also, regarding A & B....do you believe euthanasia is the same as murder?

 

What do we use? If we can't use God and the morality set forth by the Bible, what do we use to determine our laws and morals?

You referenced the death penalty and said the bible says "an eye for an eye"....It also says "you shall not kill", and Jesus said to "turn the other cheek". So which is it? Should we pick which part we want to believe to justify our own beliefs through scripture?

He answers your question, Jesus preached against hurting/killing each other and we all agree thats wrong, but in a case where it needs to be done as Capitol Punishment the case would fit. People were put to death in Jesus's time for their crimes. They were stoned. Romans killed people on the cross. You can pull a scripture out of the Bible all day and make it fit, but like I said you have to study before and after and even over more scripture to get the full meaning. Jesus is never mentioned in the Old Testament, but the OT refers to him many times.

Didn't Jesus also say, in regards to stoning, "He who is without sin, cast the first stone."? Seems to me he was saying that we, as humans shouldn't pass judgment. How can we justify killing, even in Capitol Punishment, with God's will and the Bible, if Jesus is telling us not to judge, and to turn the other cheek?

I ask this because I do not know the answer. Does the NT advocate killing for a crime as the OT does?

I don't see why there are so many in the USA, with contraceptives, the morning after pill among other things.

 

I really think the US should help pay for woman with little or no money so they can get their tubes tied. The cost is anywhere between $1,000 - $3,000, and most insurance covers at least part of the cost, but if you have no insurance I think we need to start paying for those people. The reason I say this is you help prevent abortion, and you also free up a lot more money that the government would have paid for one or more additions to many welfare checks.

^ You might appease some groups with that, but you'll still get a big fight from the Roman Catholic Church, which views both abortion and contraception as fundamentally the same -- that is to say, both are unnatural methods designed to prevent bringing a life into the world, which is a sin.
