I don't necessarily disagree. I'm just conflicted. I don't just dismiss things so easily under the "God has his reasons" banner.

Not "flickdid" as others might offer, however.

Brad Stine is a great comedian and offers this line that I will paraphrase.

I don't want a God that I can fully understand. If my limited intellect can fully understand all parts of the existence of humans, Earth, universe, well, he ain't as intelligent as I was giving him credit for.

And you must believe and trust that it does happen for a reason! Pro-life has always been my identiity. Never ever doubted or faltered--never had a reason to. Until the unexpected happened at age 43. Already struggling to raise 4 --financially, physically, emotionally etc. I am ashamed to admit the thoughts that went through my head at the time. "Maybe if I went for a really long run and got completely exhausted...maybe if I had a bad fall...maybe if I stopped eating."

Fast Forward 3 years. I thank God every day for this amazing GIFT that at first we did not want. I get down on my knees every day to ask forgiveness that I was initially wishing for a different outcome. I cringe when I try to imagine my family's life without him. Everything happens -- and everyone is born -- for a reason.

Inspirational post. Thanks for sharing.

If we accept the argument that it is the right to do what you want with your body, I offer the following for consideration.

a) Police, ambulance, EMT's, shouldn't respond to those who are seeking to commit suicide and should be allowed to do so cause it is their body and if a women has the right to end the life of an unborn child, why would you not have the right to end your own life?

b) If a doctor can assist a woman to end the life of an unborn child because it is her body, than a doctor should be allowed to assist in any person who wishes to end their own life.

c) Prostitution should be legalized as it is a woman choosing to do what they want with their own body?

d) All drugs should be legalized as it is a person choosing what to do with their own body.

I counter that argument that we cannot outlaw abortion because of a woman's right to do what they wish with their own body, with the point THAT WE DO THAT ALREADY in some of the above examples.

Absolutely points c) & d) should be legal.

The huge difference that you're completely overlooking is that in the eyes of the law, the fetus is not a life.

Not true.

You go and cause the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child and you will be charged with two counts. One for the mother and one for the unborn child.

I'm not wrong. If it were legally considered a life, it would be considered murder.

The difference is the woman has made the "choice" in those instances to bring the child into the world (ie a life). One looks at the now, the other looks at the future. Stupid, but it's the way it is.

Is it considered a crime to attempt suicide? I'm asking, I really don't know the answer to that.

FWIW, I don't necessarily think they should be illegal....

I know that. My second sentence covers the differences in perspective of the two as I understand it.

The ironic thing in our society is that if Casey Anthony would have decided to end her child's life 2 1/2 years earlier, it would have been hailed as a decision of a young woman doing what she needed to.

I think it is some sort of crime where you get mental evaluation but no jail time.

Sadly, there are those who would take you up on every one of these offers.

Yeah, you would think. But it's not that way. Our laws can be hypocritical at times.

Why is it sad? It's not our government's job to legalize morality.

It should be.
