Sounds like the bible would completely disagree with the death penalty to me....

Think about this, you read the Bible and read what Jesus taught, now what if every human did what Jesus said to do...What kind of word would we live in?

 

Mustang, what about Genesis 9:6 where it states the spilling of another man's blood. Remember we cannot pick & Choose or take scripture out of control. In my opinion it does, at least the New Testament. Many who support the death penalty use the Old Testament as their Biblical support. But it's my understanding that the New Testament trumps the Old Testament...to put it terribly simply.

The crux of this is abstinence, which requires self-discipline. You actually can have it both ways, but the challenge is convincing people that sex is something that someone should deny themselves unless they are willing to assume the full consequences of engaging in sex.

What do we use? If we can't use God and the morality set forth by the Bible, what do we use to determine our laws and morals?

By asking this it seems you are implying without God then one can not determine laws or morals. But I'll let you know what I use.

 

Personally I use my own view of what is right or wrong. Most of this is based on the principal that adults should be allowed to make their own decisions as long as they don't infringe on the rights of someone else. I prefer to get out and enjoy life without worrying what someone else might be doing with theirs. Live and let live, more or less.
