The Abortion billboard thread got me thinking about this one. Pretty straight-forward question, the answer maybe not so much. Could you have a relationship (dating, marriage, etc.) with someone who admittedly had an abortion in the past?

For the females of BGP, could you have a relationship with a man who admittedly has pressured a women into having an abortion in the past?

To your first question, yes.

I decided against making the votes public as this is a pretty private matter IMO. I figured anyone who wanted to make their feelings/answer known could do so in the body of the thread.

I voted no, but to me a lot could depend on what age the woman was when she had the abortion... Sometimes when a very young woman gets pregnant she gets pressured into it from her parents or boyfriend or Planned Parenthood etc. and make a wrong decision..

I voted yes. It's a grueling, life-altering decision. I don't see it as my place to judge.

I have often thought about this. I think that if it was something I learned about before or at the beginning of a relationship I would have a better chance of being okay with it. Obviously some circumstances would be different, or at least it would in my opinion. But, I would be very conflicted about it.

Had an abortion? I don't think so. Just a personal preference. But I'm not sure quite what you mean by "promoted" abortion.

Depends on the circumstances. If she did it simply because she was careless and got pregnant then no, I probably couldn't be in a relationship with her. Had there been some reason (rape, incest, threat to life) then I think I could.

Yes. Love the sinner, hate the sin. Forgiveness.

What if she was careless which resulted in a death as a result of a wreck?

No comparison.. Most folks don't make the decision to have a wreck...

Most womem do not make the decision to become pregnant. So what's worse? Carelessness leading to one death or leading to multiple deaths?

Still a stretch Clyde.. She chooses to kill her baby.. She would not choose to kill folks in a wreck... And even if she was careless in getting pregnant she still doesn't have to compound it by killing her baby..

Yes, each situation is different. Could I continue being with someone that aborted my child, simply due to they weren't "ready" or didn't want a child? No.

His point was that carelessness led to the death. my point is many are rationalizing but may not be consistent. So, again, you're ok with the person whose carelessness led to multiple deaths?
