Most womem do not make the decision to become pregnant. So what's worse? Carelessness leading to one death or leading to multiple deaths?

 

Pretty hard to be careless in having sex, I think most would agree the bilogical reason behind it is to birth a child. If you're choosing to have sex you're aware of the possible consequences. Not sure that most people of sound mind get behind the wheel intending to cause a car wreck and then call it an accident.....

You're really stretching your Socratic method here. In one situation the carelessness led to a life, a conscious decision led to the death. Not so in the other. And just for the record if a person carelessly causes the death of someone and has no remorse for it or feels that they were justified (as do many women who have abortions) then I would likely not want anything to do with them.

Are you saying there are different degrees of carelessness that result in deaths? Is one more acceptable than the other?

Her carelessness didn't cause the death it caused the pregnancy and that's exactly what I said. Her conscious decision to have the abortion caused the death.

Here's the difference. If you CHOOSE to drink and drive there's a chance you may kill someone. If you CHOOSE to have an abortion you know you will kill someone. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone stating that they got drunk and drove specifically to kill someone however a woman that chooses to have an abortion makes exactly that decision.

Yes to the first question. I dated a girl for 3 years that had an abortion when she was 14 (I believe it was). She is now married and has 3 childern. Her mom was a single mom with not much money and already had 3 kids. It was bad situation for all involved. They made what they thought was the right decision. I found out after dating her for about a year. It didn't change how I view or felt about her. Maybe because I got to know her and the person she was before I found out.

 

Also, I don't think abortion is as black and white as some would like to believe.

Still two totally different situations. You can't say what you did in the other thread and then come in here and say this garbage. When someone drinks beer the end result intended, as is biologically and chemically recognized by most of society, is for you to end up behind the wheel? No I think it's for you to become intoxicated, if you end up behind the wheel then that's sad that A) no one stopped you, and B) you let it happen. When engagin in sexual intercourse without the use of protection or contraceptives, the ultimate purpose bilogically, is for the female to become pregnant if not then one should probably take precautions as to avoid such an outcome. Just the same as one would when drinking, if you want to avoid bad decisions and limit possible bad out comes, say you don't want to drive, give you keys to someone else, etc etc....

Actually after further reviewing you're post you are correct, no difference to either situation. I'd pee on both parties, if you openly engage in sex that can lead to coneption with the intent of ultimately aborting a child then that's sick. If you plan on drinking and driving then that's just as sad and I have the same out look on both.

What did I rationalize? Both are morally repugnant actions. Where did I even come close to saying I was OK with someone killing someone when they drove drunk. Please refer to post 19 where I said I would likely want nothing to do with the person in either situation.
