In reality the bar has shifted in Kentucky. We used to be able to schedule in state and would get awesome competition. For whatever reason, that has changed. In general, the state doesn't pose much of a challenge for us. Sure there are still great teams throughout the Commonwealth, and we play them. Now, we are dealing with an un-said boycott. We still need to schedule games. We have done so. We scheduled the best teams that were willing to play us on fair terms. Since we have gone to this "regional" schedule we have shown signs of weaknesses. I am sure this season won't be any different. All that said, our goal remains, to win the state championship in 6A football in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Any other recognition that comes with that, if we're lucky enough to do so, is ancillary.

 

Who are Trinity's district opponents (the ones that have to play Trinity ) ? For the teams that won't schedule Trinity ,what is their reason(s) ? Please don't say they are scared , I will not buy it.

 

Will you please explain the bolded. When I think of Trinity , weakness , doesn't come to mind . Strength comes to mind , along with the strength of the schedule and a long history of a great program .

 

Recognition will come weather you want it to or not. Nobody ,can keep it from happening , local . national, it doesn't matter .

In my opinion, the "Boycott" will only back fire. By not scheduling Trinity, Trinity must seek competition out of state. Once you are out of state, you might as well schedule the best competition you can find, since it has no bearing on making the playoffs. By the time Trinity gets to the playoffs, they'll have played the 3 top teams in the best conference in the country and Cathedral, who always gives Cincy St. X fits. After playing them, playing Male, Ballard, and Louisiville St. X will actually be a step down in competition. How many other schools can say that those 3 are a step down???

Individidually those are 3 tough games. Playing them in 12 days is brutal.

The Tennessee teams that Trinity plays are no day in the park, either. Many people on BGP are not familiar with them, being NKy-centric, but they are tough, believe me.

My thoughts exactly. Teams do not need to be nationally ranked to be considered very good, but others think differently. I can think of plenty teams that wouldn't want to play MBA or Brentwood.

These are the kind of schedules that make programs great. Have moderate success, get some national attention and that gets the kids all excited to come out for your team. You then get real successful and everyone says you recruit.
