Track the NBA Finals - Mavs vs. Heat

Anybody catch LeRobin's words after the game? Something like(I am summarizing)...."all of you fans will return to your ordinary lives while I still get to be LeBron James..."....yeah....he is going to be the most hated superstar in the history of sports. I still like him but I can't find a logical way to defend him at this point. Hard to defend a guy talking about how great his life is compared to fans after he choked away 3 straight Finals games AND spoke in 3rd person at the same time? Sheez, I am not a lawyer, LeRobin. He really needs to hire me as his PR guy.

I have no idea where he was even going with that answer. I agree with Cats. LeBron is just not the brightest bulb.

Few notes...

- The entire series shifted in game 2 after Wade's made three pointer from the corner and LBJ rushed down court to jab at him in front of the Mavs bench. I said the next day that entire sequence was a microcosm of the entire decision to leave for South Beach. James can bask in the sun, play around, and Wade would carry him to multiple titles. You could tell at the time Wade wanted no part in the added showboating. LeBron may be the greatest player to ever live when blood is in the water. Can front run, showboat, and flex with the best of them which is taboo behavior from an elite player. From that moment on, I have no idea who the guy was.

- Pumped for Dirk. Just seems like a good guy. The whole Mavs title run reminds me of Indianapolis getting over the hump in football from a few years back.

- Still baffles me that Kidd is 3rd all time in three point makes and that Shawn Marion is able to play in the NBA with his shot.

- The Finals was poetic justice for a multitude of reasons. It was one thing for the Heat to lose. But it was fitting they make it all the way to the end with James leading the charge, only to falter with James receiving the bulk of the criticism. SV, you can say James does not deserve the criticism, but he absolutely asked for it with his actions the past year. ---- 2006 and FT gate. The Mavs deserved some redemption for that. ---- After hearing all year one must have two superstar talents to win it all, a team with one takes down a team with three (debatable on the 3 number, but you know what I mean).

- The Heat are still in prime position to win multiple titles. As they should be expected to.

- I think the worst thing to happen to the Heat last night was when James made a couple of jumpers out of the gate. That got him believing he was a good shooter. Then he missed a couple and the confidence when south. His final 5 points were in garbage time. Really he only delivered 2 meaningful points this game as well in the 4th. Turnovers by he and Wade really killed Miami.

- I never believed Dallas would win until the final 3 minutes.

Best couple of lines that I've heard so far from Cavalier fans...

Today is National Lebron James Day....everybody gets to leave work 12 minutes early!

And now we know why Lebron didn't go to college...he didn't want to have to deal with the finals!

Other day I asked LeBron for change for a dollar. He gave me three quarters and he called on Wade to deliver the last quarter.

Two things. If Wade didn't want to celebrate that shot why did he leave his hand up for a good 10 seconds after the shot while he was standing in the Mavs bench? If they were making fun of Dirk during the "cough gate" Wade instigated it. I think Wade thought LBJ could back up the talk and he didn't.

It is one thing for James to average substantially lower than what he did all season. But besides the +/- differential, the most telling stat is that James only attempted 20 FTs all series! That is mind boggling to me.

I was fine with Wade's pose for a few seconds (not 10). The added celebration was not needed though. It is obvious Wade had his moment and was ready to move on. James was not. The cough thing I did not think much about other than it being another example of their immaturity.

So was Bosh hurt, did he roll his ankle walking to the locker room or what? I understand being upset and shedding some tears, but I thought the guy was going to need an ambulance.

My mistake....he didn't refer to himself in 3rd person. Just heard his response. He still needs a better PR person though.

Cuban is paying for the victory parade in Dallas.

Who else does that?

This may have been said on one of the 11 other pages so far but....

Cool move by Mark Cuban to have the original owner as part of the celebration.

You don't have many owners tweet, put out their email address to the public, show up to the finals in jeans, nor constantly ride the refs but every player in the league wants to play for an owner like him.

Cuban has made a conscious effort not to be the figurehead of this year's postseason run. The 4th quarter was the first time I even saw him and he did not steal the show like many thought he would.

I really don't see how anyone could defend Lebron's play in this series. There were no excuses. He flopped game after game in the biggest opportunity of his career, while his counterpart repeatedly delivered in the big moments. I can buy the speculation in past seasons that he had to expend so much energy throughout the games that he didn't have enough left to close. It's believable considering he had to carry so much of the burden in Cleveland. But, not in Miami. It was beyond him deferring to Wade in crunch time, he was virtually non-existent. He wasn't even Robin, IMO.

That said, I still think the guy will get it figured out and redeem himself at some point. He showed that he could be a closer in leading Miami to the finals, now he just has to find a way to finish the deal. There have been other greats who have had to overcome struggles early in their career and silence critics. Its not apples to apples, but I do think of Jordan's career and the fact that many people said he couldn't win the big one because he was selfish and didn't make his teammates better, etc.

One thing I do not believe from the post-game presser is when Lebron says he doesn't listen to the outside noise and that it doesn't affect him. I absolutely believe that it did and it does.

Also, for D-Wade, I guess it's harder to carry a team to a title when the stripes don't let you live at the foul line. I thought both of Miami's superstars were disappointing in the fourth quarter last night. If I'm not mistaken, both guys were 2-3 in the quarter. Six combined shots between two of the best players in the entire league. That cannot be in an elimination game.
