This is correct. We were all hoping that he'd be able to announce it on his own terms, but the leaks have happened too quickly for that.

That is a shame for Kentucky High School basketball and most importantly the players at Warren Central. Who will be the leading candidates to replace him at Central?

Same here. I've enjoyed watching his teams over the years and hate to see him go. Plus, he does a great post-game press conference. Other coaches could learn some lessons from him on how to avoid the dreaded "coach-speak."

Being from Florida I haven't ever gotten to watch too many games from Ky., but of the ones I have watched, it was always a treat to watch his teams play, and I considered him one of the very best in Ky. His teams were always a threat to win no matter who they were playing.

The worst loss Warren Central suffered in the 8 years Coach Riley took them to the Sweet 16 was the 13 point loss to South Laurel in the 2005 state championship game - a game no one expected them to make in the first place after what they lost from the state title team in '04. They lost twice in the first round, both by 3 points, both to respected teams. Coach Riley made Warren Central into a program respected around the state, and whoever replaces him will have some huge shoes to fill.

Yes, from a points perspective. The loss to Ballard was brutal in the way it happened. This year was not quite as bad, but bad in the same respect. The OT loss to Male in '02 was the one I had the hardest feelings about before that one
