I have to ask why pitch Severson? How many lefties does BW have in their starting lineup? I thought that Shumate was the scheduled starter.

I think CovCath is in serious trouble. They are struggling as a team at the plate. When that happens, kids start to press, they start trying to hit 3 run hr's instead of getting singles and walks. Confidence is amazing thing, play with it and it elevates your game, with out it you play way below your capabilities.

I think that is what the great coach's are best at. They get their teams to play with confidence with out being complacent.

Coach Myeroff seems to be a master at that.

Nice win for the Tigers. No need to panic if you are CCH. Bottom line for BOTH teams is win 1 district game and you are in the Region tournament.

CovCathIRadio - Did you guys broadcast the game yesterday?

No they did not.

I would email if I thought it had any chance of success but it doesn't in this case. The newspaper is dying and the sports budgets are shrinking so only the pro and college teams are going to get coverage. Besides, we get personal accounts of the game on here.

You are right Clyde. When I got on the enquirer site this morning I see they must of been saving money to do an interview with Football coach Dale Mueller today. I guess it is starting to look a lot like football season.

Has to feel good for Cottingham to have 4 RBI's against the team he was considered not good enough to play for.

Don't usually like to post on anything but actual game stuff but can't help it on this one. This is so wrong it's a joke. I hope BW's catcher finishes the year strong and has a great college career. I really do. That being said, he put himself in the posistion where a frosh catcher passed him up. And he quit the team in the MIDDLE OF THE POSTSEASON. He was considered to be the starter the next two years believe me. If he wouldn't have been, don't you think they would have had Lankheit catching at jv that year. He was playing 2nd base and pitching.

As far as the game goes yesterday, congrats to BW. They deserved it and they will be very tough out come tourney time. CCH needs to regroup quickly.

I have to ask why pitch Severson? .

Krumps has Severson as his #1. He pitched 7 inning one-run ball against Holy Cross who only had one lefty (I think).

I think he is their best. I thought Shumate was supposed to be their 1. Especially what I heard from people close to program. Heard Shumate was clocked close to 90. Heck, Sevy had better pace on the ball than Shumate. Haven't seen Maile throw this year. Looking at stats, he seems to be doing well. Why not him?

Why is it that No one is really talking about the game???? Not taking anything away from Cov. Cath, but Beechwood was flat out the better team in this game. Lots of good stuff, like the freshman second baseman that got what I think was the first hit of the game for Beechwood, a double off the left field wall, that seemed to really get the Beechwood bats going and how about the great throw to the plate from Beechwood’s center fielder, and the player who played first base for the injured regular first baseman, and hits a home run, how about the pitcher from Beechwood, seems like he did a pretty good job as well, and lastly what a great game by the Beechwood catcher.

Congrats Beechwood on a good win.

I believe Shumate followed Severson to the mound. I don't know how long he pitched because I wasn't at the game but I think the last few runs were off of him and Fagel, who replaced Shumate. Someone who was at the game please correct and fill in the details. The point being that Shumate did pitch and the Tigers had some success off him also.

Also, following up on RE's tuition comments above, I will start a thread elsewhere to discuss tuition paying students at public schools. Look for it in general discussion.

Nope. Computer/internet issues. To be resolved by Districts.

I'm not sure why Shumate does not bat more. I think he has one of the highest averages on the team.

Shumate pitched the fifth and started the sixth. Leadoff guy in sixth got on with a hit and then Fagel came in. So, 2 hits and 1 ER for Shumate in 1 inn. Fagel was a BB and a hit with 1 ER.

First you say Sevvy is their best and then ask why not Maile???

Only because he wasn't mentioned. Sevvy is the best I've seen pitch for them.
