Myerhoff is not the only coach I have seen use this. I am pretty sure Krumps has put it to use before. They did not throw the ball to second. Krumps did say something to the first baseman. I think his job is to stand in front of the bag forcing the runner to go around him.

Whats the problem with this type of play? This isnt the majors nor is it even close to college or even the best HS baseball in the US. These are a bunch of 16-18 yr old kids that simply get lazy and when these types of plays happen certain fans get upset because "the book" doesnt instruct one to do this or do that in these types of situations. The best teams dont always win, but the smarter and more creative teams do. Call it "busch league", "little league" or even "knothole", bottom line is it worksand is effective. Sorta like "bunting" LOL

I think the throw by Leeke was big, the kid has been doing it all year.

One of the biggest and best games in the region thus far and where was the press??? What a shame this game was not covered. I will and hope all join me in sending an email to the enquirer voicing displeasure in the lack of coverage for NKY sports in the paper. JMO

There is nothing wrong with it. It's legal and at the high school level should be easy to defend. I'm actually shocked a high school coach would try it but, as you said, give him credit for taking advantage of the other team's ineptitude.

I would email if I thought it had any chance of success but it doesn't in this case. The newspaper is dying and the sports budgets are shrinking so only the pro and college teams are going to get coverage. Besides, we get personal accounts of the game on here.

Another big ole WOW!!! Two days in a row, I'm searching threads and I come across another loss for CovCath. This time a "big" district seeding game. Wait, from what I have read, CCH threw the game. Oh well, all's well in Park Hills though because even a loss doesn't keep posters from bringing up "old" skeletons and even some "older" ones. But hey, I guess if it makes you feel better.

True. I have seen them at meaningless games. I would buy a paper if I knew there would be coverage of NKY though.

I am just absolutely amazed how a school the size of BW can play with the big boys. I cant believe nobody has brought this up yet. I guess because its such a rival game that records, enrollment size, etc, etc can be thrown out the window. Sorta like the old Highlands / NewCath football games back in the late 70's and early 80's.

I heard CCH outhit BW 8-6. Shows what the long ball can do.

 

CCH simply doesn't have the pop. They have to bunch a lot of hits or misplays by the other team to score in bunches against good teams.
