I am just absolutely amazed how a school the size of BW can play with the big boys. I cant believe nobody has brought this up yet. I guess because its such a rival game that records, enrollment size, etc, etc can be thrown out the window. Sorta like the old Highlands / NewCath football games back in the late 70's and early 80's.

 

BW having success against the bigger schools is so commonplace now it's not worth mentioning.

 

I've never been a fan of Bob M personally (although I can't back that up with anything other than gut feel) but give the man credit for building such a strong baseball program at such a small school.

Clyde, If you ever get the chance to get to know him take it. He actually is a great guy with a huge heart for his family and players. He expects you to work hard and will call you out if you don't. I would guess part of your reason is things you have heard, most of which is probably twisted a lot. I had heard many negative things about him and have come to find they are not true. You know how it is when JR. doesn't like to work and mom or dad think JR. should be handed his opportunity.

You're probably right. Happens all of the time. Heck, I'm sure people think the same about me until they realize how loving I am.

 

To be honest though I've never heard one bad thing about him from any BW people. No unhappy parents that I know of.

It is an advantage but any disadvantage to others is self-imposed. I'm not saying schools should open up their doors just to make their sports teams better but it is a downside to their own rule.

Are there schools that do not accept tuition paying students? I guess schools with overcrowding issues might not accept out of district/tuition students. But I don't know of any schools that will not accept them. I would be curious to know schools who will not take tuition students. Also, I would bet Beechwood has more tuition students that don't play sports than ones that do. When you are the top rated public school in the state, that happens.

Are you referring to BW or CCH? CCH has no boundaries and all students pay tuition correct? What about the rule in Kenton County? I believe there are or have been several very good athletes from the Scott area that are wearing Dixie or SK colors. What about kids that live in Boone County and go to NCC or the ones who live in Florence and go to Ryle? I suppose since they are not wearing red and white it is OK. I believe the last I heard tuition students at BW that play sports is less than 5%.

There are many schools that do not accept tuition paying students, are you living in a bubble? Many and most school districts are restricted by geographic boundaries. It's obvious you come from the private side. If you don't think they have an advantage, then you are sadly mistaken. These schools are very similar to all star ___________ (name your sport or academic team) in alot of respects. Not right or wrong, just the facts. It is what it is.

Let's get some things straight here:

The Kenton Co. rule has open enrollment, like I said No boundaries=advantage.

What about the kids that live in Boone Co? If they go to NCC, CCH or BW that's great. But it helps those schools if those kids happen to be good athletes or if they are very intelligent.

You can live in Florence and go to Ryle. I know many parts of Florence in the Ryle district.

Less than 5%?? What was it when they were winning State Championships? I know.

 

I was only stating that if you don't have boundaries, you have a very distinct advantage, are you really going to dispute that point? It's a no brainer.
