May 15, 201115 yr Having said my piece about a few things let's get the broom out and send a message to the Cards with a win over over their ace and send them home to play Philly with a losing streak. I want this team to win and be successful as much as anybody and I will try not to be too critical of the "toothpick" going forward. I promise to dispaly his bobblehead proudly with the rest of my collection after they honor him later in the year.
May 15, 201115 yr I'm not sure where you heard that but 2-1 has traditionally been the "Best" time to go and you'll hear all the veteran announcers say that through the course of a game. I will give you that maybe BP wasn't comfortable but the situation called for it and the majority of the good managers in the league would run in that situation. I will say one thing that I don't like about Dusty is that he plays everything by the percentages. That's his style and I guess as long as he is the Red's manager we will have to deal with that. My feeling is that you have to adjust on the fly sometimes to help the team win games and if that means going against the odds then so be it. Just my opinion. Why would you want to steal on a fastball count? Hit and run maybe, but not straight steal...

May 15, 201115 yr If Gomes were in the lineup today, I would pull for Dusty to go "LaRussa" and bat Woods in the 8 spot and Johnny Strikeout 9th,(unless I could figure out a way to bat him 10th).
May 15, 201115 yr Chris Carpenter's last 16 starts, the Cards are 4-12. Carpenter has allowed 5.45 R/9 over those starts.

May 15, 201115 yr 2-2...Carpenter didn't back up third. Bruce is lucky that ball hits him or he would have been hosed. Rolen advances all the way to third.
May 15, 201115 yr I think they might have had Bruce if that ball didn't hit him but I like to see them being aggressive.
