May 2, 201115 yr I've read multiple online posts/articles from people who are saying we're no different than those that cheered the deaths of 9.11 when we show up en masse to cheer OBL's death. I can rationalize the difference pretty easily in my mind. Others?

In their mind it was justified to kill all of those innocent people. Might be easy for us to see but not them. I'm not a big fan of cheering. I'd rather take the "that's how we roll" stance. Those who cheered on the attacks of 9.11 were cheering on the unprovoked attack and murder of thousands of innocents. Those who cheered last night were cheering the death of a terrorist mastermind who provoked the country with the largest military worldwide by killing thousands. He was not innocent, and the actions we took to kill him were completely provoked by his refusal to stop committing, directing, and condoning terrorism.

May 2, 201115 yr How do you rationalize our reaction as being different from those we criticized after 9.11? I know you are simply fanning the flame, but he set in motion the killing of innocent civilians in our country, and then subsuquently some innocents in the Middle East. For that, yes I cheer our killing him. He is a hypocrite and murderer and hopefully spends eternity in hell. The difference is those that perished on 09/11 did nothing to provoke his terrorists acts. I have not been a supporter of our current President, but this is by far the best thing he has accomplished since being in office, and I give him high marks for getting this done.
May 2, 201115 yr I guess I have a different perspective. One of my dearest friends is a Chief Warrant Officer in the Special Forces. Over the last 10 years, I've watched him leave his beloved wife and 5 children, time and time again, for over a year at a time, all the while looking for this monster and others like him. So yes, on behalf of my dear friend's time in those caves in Afghanistan, I'm going to cheer.
