What the heck was McCarver talking about over and over about the Reds being lucky Stubbs didn't touch the ball?

 

That's a different debate. McCarver was talking about them being lucky that he didn't touch it before it bounced into the stands.

 

Maybe he thought that if Stubbs touched it, the runner would get 2 bases from the time the ball was "touched" out of play which would have allowed him to score?

 

Maybe that's what he thought but I can't believe in his 50 years in baseball he hasn't learned that's not the case.

I blame Dusty for this loss, again. He had Chapman warmed up several times and yet let Cordero face Pena, who was the only threat to hit a HR coming up. And then again, he let Cordero face Kosdome and just watch him lose the game. Dusty has way to much faith in Cordero. This one should have been a win. Dusty just is not very good in close games. But Yes, Stubbs should have caught that ball.

Dusty has a problem with trust issues in all his pitchers. He sticks with them way too long and he never starts the 9th in this type situation with a specialist and then bring in Cordero. In this case as you stated he should have at least used Bray to start the inning. Bray pitched to one batter on Thursday and was not used yesterday. What better spot to use him than to pitch to Pena and then go to Cordero. Dusty is just way to heard headed in his use of the bullpen. A specialist lefty is just that a specialist!! Use him as such no matter the inning.

I have ripped him on his way of handliing pitchers. I think that he is really bad in that area.

How are you being interrogated? I said I didn't see the game so I was asking questions to see what happened and make sense of it. Nobody is making you answer the questions.

Yes, just about every other manager would have used their closer in the situation the Reds were in yesterday. I have no problem with the way Dusty managed yesterday.
