No, Dusty puts his closer in in the ninth and sets back, chews on his toothpick, and hopes for the best. His managing is over. Why was Fukodome not walked to face a light hitting Barney on deck. Even if they hit Castro, Cordero has a better chance against him. You let the closer do their job. Simple as that. Cordero has had one bad outing all year and every rips him. Get over it...

No problem using the closer, but the closer is not going to be the closer every game. It just would have been nice to see a lefty against Pena and Fukudome. We should have swept the Cubbies.

I don't see anybody complaining that Cordero was in the game today...

It will be interesting to see how Cueto is able to pitch Saturday against the Cardinals. I'm not sure he'll be able to handle it mentally.
May 8, 201115 yr I blame Dusty for this loss, again. He had Chapman warmed up several times and yet let Cordero face Pena, who was the only threat to hit a HR coming up. And then again, he let Cordero face Kosdome and just watch him lose the game. Dusty has way to much faith in Cordero. This one should have been a win. Dusty just is not very good in close games. But Yes, Stubbs should have caught that ball. Dusty has a problem with trust issues in all his pitchers. He sticks with them way too long and he never starts the 9th in this type situation with a specialist and then bring in Cordero. In this case as you stated he should have at least used Bray to start the inning. Bray pitched to one batter on Thursday and was not used yesterday. What better spot to use him than to pitch to Pena and then go to Cordero. Dusty is just way to heard headed in his use of the bullpen. A specialist lefty is just that a specialist!! Almost every manager in baseball puts their closer in during the 9th if they have the lead and the closer is available. You hardly ever see managers do what you all have said for the ninth. Now if he did do what you all said and they still hit it out say against Bray, then people would be saying he is an idiot for not putting his closer in because that is what good managers would do. I admit I am not a huge fan of Dusty, however we did in the division last year. So not everything he does is horrible like some of you all think. Seems like some people try to find any little thing to say something about.
