Without Boston he isn't better than Wall, IMO.

I think I agree. Definitely going forward over the next few years I agree :thumb:.

Nothing wrong with a man getting emotional for feeling like he belongs on the court to help his team win. Been a long year for him and he even admitted it. I ain't mad at him at all.

It has been a tough year for him, I still think it was pathetic.

The Thunder have assembled the best young roster I've ever seen in terms of talent and how they play together.

Durant and Westbrook are only 22. Ibaka and Harden are 21. Maynor and Cook are 23. Perk and Sefolosha are 26. Collison and Nazr are the only 2 guys on the roster not in their 30s.

They already have Perk signed up, as long as they can keep Ibaka for a decent price they look like a beast for the next decade to me.

If Brandon Roy was healthy I think the Blazers would be my pick to win the West. Brining Matthews and Batum off the bench, along with being able to throw Gerald Wallace at Kobe would be crazy. Camby could do reasonably well for an old guy on Bynum, LA would give Gasol all he wanted, and when the Lakers came with Odom, Wallace could check him. Derek Fisher and Blake would get dominated by Miller in the post. Lakers are great and a healthy Portland might not be able to get it done against them, but I think they'd give them all they wanted.

I'd take DWill, CP3 or Westbrook over Rondo and not look back. Love Rondo, but if the guys he's playing with aren't on top of their games he doesn't look very good. If he and CP3 swapped places Paul would have 2 or 3 titles, and Rondo would just be another good young PG IMO.

I wouldn't go that far.

Just simply saying that for what Boston needs and how they operate as a team no one other than Rondo could do it better. Partly because he isn't looking to score(because he can't) and I don't think Rose, CP3 or DWill would do as good at Boston or for Boston as Rondo does. That's all. I'd still take those 3 before Rondo.

Rondo is the best facilitator in the league, he runs that team and would run any team he would play on. His basketball prowess is off the charts, even in comparison to the other guys. D-Will, CP3, and Westbrook are amazing point guards and great scorers from the PG position but I feel you guys are letting scoring play way too much of a factor in your decision. Traditionally speaking you point guard is supposed to be about your fourth or fifth offensive option anyway, if he is more than that then that is obviously a plus. Still, the primary job of the point guard is to run the offense and make those around him better, Rondo does that better than anybody in the league IMO, he understands what it means to be a point guard. People are penalizing him because of the team he plays on but IMO Rondo has extended the quality of play late in all three of their careers 110%. Let's not forget Stockton or Mark Jackson wasn't really known for their elite scoring either but still they remain as quite possibly the best PG's to ever play (outside of Magic), I see Rondo in the same light.

So with that said, if I am building a team I don't care a bit to let you guys have the other guys mentioned and I will take Rondo to lead my team every time. Of course you need to get some scoring to go with him but I would rather have Rondo and a good wing scorer as opposed to an average wing scorer and scoring PG any day.

Looking for the Celtics to finish off the Knicks today, they have dominated the series and I am hoping for a little extra rest and preparation time.

GO CELTICS!!!!!

Better facilitator than CP3? No way IMO. Put Rondo on the Cavs and lets see what he does.

And Mark Jackson at the top of the PGs to ever play the game? Yeah right. I could name atleast 20 that were/are head and shoulders better than Jackson was:

Stockton, Magic, Cousy, The Big O, CP3, DWill, Rondo, DRose, Westbrook, The Glove Gary Payton all instantly come to mind.

That's cool.

I just want to see how good Rondo can facilitate without 3 HOF's to get assists from. On nights when Pierce and Allen are on fire like they were on Friday then he'll get 20 assists. The last time we saw Rondo with mediocre help was when he was at UK. I'd love to see how good he is if he and Wall or even Rose switched places. That's all I am saying. I don't think Wall or Rose could do what Rondo does in Boston but I don't think Chicago would be the 1 seed in the East with Rondo. The Wizards would still suck though.

Traditional point guards can also hit wide open jumpers, 3 pointers and free throws.

Stockton could shoot and he was still the 2nd or 3rd leading scorer for Utah.

Mark Jackson is not one of the top 10 pg's of all time, IMO.

Of the top 10-15 PGs in the league, Rondo seems to be the most dependent on having a good cast around him. He could not have taken New Orleans to the playoffs or even got close IMO, that team is awful around CP3. CP3, DWill, Rose, Westbrook, Steve Nash would be good anywhere. Its hard for me to say that about Rondo.

As for the Mark Jackson comment:

Magic, The Big O, Isiah Thomas, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, Stockton, Chris Paul, Walt Frazier, Bob Cousy, Tiny Archibald were all better. For my money Kevin Johnson was better (statistics agree too) than Mark Jackson. Lenny Wilkens was voted one of the 50 greatest so I'd say he's better. Rose, Rondo, Westbrook, and Deron Williams look like they will be better. Mo Cheeks is someone I would mention. Jackson has great numbers as he's 3rd all-time in assists but his career averages are nothing but pedestrian and its not like he made up for it with a big number of championships either.

And Mark Jackson at the top of the PGs to ever play the game?

The All-Time assists list would say otherwise.

Again I totally understand where you guys are coming from and I agree to an extent. Jackson is no where close to being as good of "basketball player" as Pistol, West, Cousy, or whoever other point guard you want to name. But at the end of the day he got the guys who needed the ball the ball in positions to score and he ran his teams. That's all you can ask for in a point guard. Just because somebody like Rondo isn't as flashy and put up scoring numbers like CP3 and D Will doesn't mean anything. Lets see CP3 go up and get some of the rebounds Rondo does or play the kind of defense Rondo does. For my money Rondo does everything you could ask your point guard to do and then some. You act like KG, Pierce, and Allen are the same players they were ten years ago but they are not. Of course they are still excellent players but IMO having Rondo around has extended each of thems career and has allowed them to remain as effective as they are or can be.

That's the best stat you can come up with for Jackson? He played nearly 20 seasons, I'd hope he's near the top of the list for all-time assists. He averaged less than 10 PPG and 8 APG for his career. Good numbers but far from great. His career numbers are way below Steve Nash's and he doesn't fill the stat sheet like Kidd did.

Come on Dola, you have to be kidding me .

As for comparing guys to Rondo rebounding-wise and defensively, CP3 is one of the best defensive PGs in the NBA as is Deron Williams. CP3 averages more rebounds per game for his career than Rondo and almost half a steal more per game than Rondo. DWill's career rebound numbers are lower than Rondo, but over the last 3 seasons he's been right there with him. His steals numbers are lower but he nearly doubles Rondo's scoring average while out passing him as well for his career. Once again, I hope you're joking.

Not joking, 100% serious on each. Mark Jackson came in right away and was Rookie of the Year with the Knicks. Also had some good battles with the Bulls teaming with Reggie Miller and not much else. Again all I am saying is you guys are taking my meaning out of context. Not saying Jackson was a better basketball player than a lot of the guys who played the same position as him but as far as a guy who is going to play that position the way its supposed to be played not too many done it better than Jackson. IMO running a team and putting everyone else in a position to excel then worry about yourself last is hard to do and Jackson and Rondo are both good at that. Both care about every one else on the floor more than they do themselves, not sure you can say the same for CP3 and D Will who are more worried about trying to do everything themselves instead of putting teammates in a position to help improve the team as a whole.

A PG that scores more than 10 PPG is a detriment to his team and does not care about his teammates. Huh, interesting.............

Jackson and Rondo have to care more about their teammates because neither one can shoot the ball to save their lives.

Where did I say that or come anywhere close to saying that man?

Jackson and Rondo have to care more about their teammates because neither one can shoot the ball to save their lives.

May not be able to shoot, but in Rondo's case he can certainly score when he wants to, and he has shown that. Half way through this season when everyone was banged up with injuries Rondo became the number one scoring option and put in some big scoring games while still dishing out his assists.

Cats, this is for you too......

All I am saying is that as good as Paul is and as good as Williams is to me they do not make their teammates that much better the way that Rondo does. Rondo makes everyone around him better. D Will and CP3 may be better players and better scorers but they do not make their entire team better the way Rondo does IMO and I will stand by that. You put Rondo on the Jazz last few years, guys like Boozer and others would more than likely have career high numbers. You put him on the Hornets right now and everyone on the team is going to be more effective on the offensive end because Rondo is going to have them in a position to make more plays and he does so with his savy, his presence, but most of all his passing.
