Next year's top qbs

There has been talk all year about Anderson being the best High School running back to ever play in the state of Kentucky, not by fans on internet message boards but by several prominent journalists around the state. Are you a better judge of talent than them? I think you will get a chance to see just how good he is on Friday, because I believe he will be used more than he has been in any game of his St. X career.

"Several Prominent Journalists"? Who? Earl Cox of the Voice, thats who. Cox said that Vic "might be the best back in Jefferson County since Sherman Lewis". That statement is suspect on its own but it also doesn't support your claim of "ever" and "state".According to many X supporters, Vic isn't even the best back to play at X. One might start that list with Dicky Lyons and go from there. As I said before, no one is disputing that Vic is a very talented, but the best ever in the history of Kentucky high school football? I think even the biggest believers in green and gold would not support that claim.

FYI, as far as Friday night goes, maybe you should leave the coaching to Coach Glaser.

I have to go with Bricking. In his first year at varsity QB he posted 1635 passing yards for the season and this kid is only a sophmore! If he works hard in the off season, he should do well. He also has the majority of the team returning and we all know that it takes the whole team, not just the QB!

Lafayette sophomore Logan Bunch started the last 5 games vs. henry Clay, Scott County, Tates Creek, Dunbar and South Laurel.... He threw for 1000 yards.

I just hope they've learned how important the off season is. If we had a better off season this year we may have done even better.

NKY:

Passing: Bleser, Bricking, Hesch

Running: Jefferson

No clue about HHS qbs and where they will fit in.

Kaelin Ammons, probably a Top 5 QB in the state this year.

The kid from Clay Co. will be a stud, too. I think Lewis is his last name, not sure, but he is a freshman.

The KHSAA website said Lewis led 3A in passing yards this season and 2nd in state (regular season stats). Ammons was 3rd in 3A and 5th overall. He also had 35 TD passes.

Two pretty good players returning.

Sportsforlife.....

where on the KHSAA website did you find the stats for the regular season showing rankings?

I agree. Vic is an amazing athlete, and St. X has the players to have one of the best backfields in state history. If Vic plays running back then that will keep either Willie Simmons(will be a junior) or Duece(sorry don't recall real name - will be a sophmore) off the field. All three of these kids play the same position, and all have big-play potential. It would suprise me if Glaser didn't use the tools he has been given, and put together one of the greatest backfields St. X or the state has ever seen. X fans please tell me this is correct, I have heard that Duece is strong and big, and may have more D-1 potential than Vic. Is this really true?

First of all Ben Zoeller will be the X QB next year. Vic will see spot action like this year. Glaser will have many options with Anderson,Eckman,Simmons,& Finch. To answer your question - yes in my opinion Duece Finch is way ahead of Vic at this time and has the potential to be better. He is bigger and stronger alraedy and his natural running back moves remind you of Barry Sanders and he has speed to burn when in the open field.

A few fun facts about Nick Petrino's 2005 season (Through 11/25):

290 Attempts

180 Completins

3 Interceptions

Yards: 3013

TD: 30

Average per game: 215.2

Career High: 373 yards passing (vs. Manual)

*Also has 12 rushing TD's this year, and has rushed for 332 yards.

Not bad!

I can't wait to see next year's stats!

All stats courtesy of the fine work of Robert "Stats" Sampson, '05

Petrino, Trinity best of the Best

JJ Hesch of Newport has got my vote

Keith Tandy (Christian Co.) great athlete, quick relelase, accurate, and throws well on the run. Can drop back and throw the long ball or scramble and throw on the run. Not real big at 6'0 175.

He is loseing his 2 starting WR's, TE, & RB.

Keith is a 2nd cousin to Curtis Pulley (Hopkinsville/University of Kentucky)

I recall a Tandy that played from Western Kentucky University in the mid 70's. Just wondering if there is a relation.

That would be Keith's dad. He graduated from Hopkinsville High School and signed to play at WKU. He was tragically killed in a car accident several years ago.

Wow, what a shock. He was a very talented player. I remember he seemed to have had the biggest arms I had ever seen. He always had a big smile on his face and treated everyone (player or not) like his best friend.
