I think the majority of Buckeye fans have become irritated with Herbie over the last few years because he takes shots at Tressel and TP and does not defend the program on the air but off the air he talks likes he is a diehard Buckeye. I personnaly realize this is what he is paid to do and do not have a problem with him. He stated on air last year that he does not understand why an offensive recruit would want to come and play for Tressel and the latest one that set everybody over the top was after the bowl game victory over Arkansas he moved the Buckeyes down 3 spots in his final rankings.

Did he say any offensive player or did he say a spread qb? No way a spready qb would want to go to OSU. I always tell people that irrational UK fan = irrational OSU fan. 3 spots down and they're ready to run him out of town?

I think the fans think if he is the diehard that he claims to be off the air that he should not critisize the program or the players on the air. As I said before, I don't have a problem with him critisizing the program because usually what he says the rest of us were thinking at some point. I think his fued with Pryor has not helped either and now the fact that he is throwing OSU fans under the bus for his move. I agree there are some crazy fans out there and if his family was physically threatened than I do not blame him for moving but if he is moving just because he is getting blasted on radio talk shows and message boards than he needs to put his boy pants on and deal with it. He chose to do the job that he is doing and his job does not come without backlash from crazed fans, especially if you are critasizing your own alma mater.

The ONLY reason I don't like OSU is all of the UK Basketball Fans that are OSU Football Fans...I guess I come from a frame of mind that you are a fan of a school or university, not one of their teams. I have always been and will always be a fan of the University of Kentucky! I'm not saying i'm right or wrong, just that it is my biggest sports pet peeve. Choose a school and root for that school. A guy I live near is a my age and is a fan of Duke Basketball and Florida St. football. He is from Virginia....that makes no sense to me. Let's be real though...we've had this discussion a million times. EVERY school that has a top notch program or even USED to have a top notch program has ridiculous fans. It isn't a UK thing or an OSU thing. It is every single one of them.

March 21, 201115 yr On the surface, it looks like Kirk Herbstreit left Columbus due to issues with Ohio State fans. In reality, there is an alleged affair and a subsequent divorce that factors into the equation heavily. Time for a change for Herbie. Nice pick on his new location.
March 21, 201115 yr People in Lexington don't care about Ohio State either. The Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area is where things get heated because there are members of both fan bases. Exactly right. It's why I used to crack up at people claiming I couldn't like UC basketball because I grew up a UK fan. The people in Lexington don't even know there is a UK/UC rivalry because there isn't. There is a rivalry between NKY residents and Cincinnati residents for UK/UC hoops and UK/OSU whatever because they work together and that is all.

His first loyalty is to ESPN who pays his salary. Just because the truth hurts don't blame Herbie.
