next year they return all of their core except Trammell. they will be very good next year as well

The Breds bench is way too thin with the loss of two players due to football injuries, "Big Jack" Grugenschlager and Evan Morse, and the ankle injury (last week in district finals) and loss of probably their best outside shooter Zach Ryan, NewCath only has Freshman Jake Schulte to provide any quality minutes. Unfortunatley this could be the end of the road for the boys on the hill.

Equally as good imo. I have watched Beuter since 4th grade and he is a fantastic shooter who has tremendous basketball IQ.

Just curious. If by chance Dixie doesn't win and the drought continues, who do they have coming up in the next couple of years to compliment the awesome play of Hatton? With him leading the way in the coming years you'd think they would still be competitive. Do they still have a chance in the near future of any 9th Region Titles if this one does not pan out for them?

 

Dixie returns Pike, Stansberry, Hassel, Hatton, Evans, and Cohorn next year.

 

If they don't win it today, they'll have just as good of a shot next year to cut down the nets. Nothing will change next year....the top 4 will once again be Dixie, Holmes, Boone, and Newcath.

As for the game, this game comes down to several things.

 

1. Trammel must play good D on Hightchew and keep him from getting penetration in the lane. When Hightchew is penetrating, NCC is very tough because of his court vision and ability to finish.

 

2. Pike HAS to stay out of foul trouble. He did a good job of this yesterday against Brown and he'll have to have a repeat performance against Geisler. Be aggressive with the rock and force the big boy to get in foul trouble. Without him, NCC is mediocre, at best.

 

3. Hatton is going to get his, but if NCC wants to win, they must not let him get open looks. Force him to work for every shot and basket an hope that tired legs late in the game contribute to him missing a shot or two.

 

4. Dixie can't have the mental lapses they had yesterday when they'd build a 7 or 8 point lead and then several minutes later let Boone right back in the game. NCC is a much smarter team and will try to play stallball if they get any kind of lead. Dixie MUST jump on top early and keep the intensity up.

 

With that said, I think Dixie's overall talent and depth will prevail. The Colonels have a guard to neuralize Hightchew (Trammel), a front court to frustrate Geisler (Pike, Stansberry), and a dead eye shooter (Hatton) that will force NCC to play good perimeter defense.

Hightchew tweaked something last night, either a knee or ankle. I hope he is near 100% to make this a great game. I have watched both teams over 8 times this season and I have no idea who is going to win. The cream has clearly risen to the top for this championship final, either will represent the 9th quite well. Good luck to both teams.

 

Can't wait to get to the BOK. Fight through the traffic, battle the ticket windows, eat some over priced chicken fingers and slug down a giant soda, trust me it worth it, these kids are great!
