Don't blink - the post season is almost here. Ol' papa sees a balanced region, with any of 5 or 6 squads capable of getting to Rupp if things fall right.

 

1. South Oldham (15-4). If Blair and Sherry are hitting from distance, South can go a long way. Only one region loss (a bad 15-pointer to OC). Signature wins - Fern Creek, North Oldham.

 

2. Simon Kenton (14-8). The 'neers are just about done with their region 8 schedule and are headed to the traditional confines of NKY to finish up the regular season (Campbell County, CovCath and Holmes are still out there). If only SK could stay in region all season long (8-0 so far).

 

3. Oldham County (17-6). Just when it looked like the Colonels were rolling, with wins over North and South during an 8-game run, they lay an egg at Gallatin County.

 

4. North Oldham (12-10). Nice wins against Scott, Butler, DeSales, but no signature wins in 2011.

 

Also in the mix - Spencer County, Gallatin County.

It would be nice to see Simon Kenton make a run to the Sweet 16. Did they celebrate the 30th anniversary of their '81 State Title yet?

Colonels have not had All region player Kerry Smith last 3 games including Gallatin due to injury I have heard

I think it will come down to South Oldham and Oldham County.

Simon is very good, they have not been healthy all year, I would put them in the mix! Definitely be careful with Old Jon Jones and the Wildcats, with Spencer also looking to wear the slipper

Watching to see who comes out of this region as they drew the 10th in the first game of the state tourney.

With not making it to state the last two years and having 9 seniors...it is a no brainer...

Better beat Mason and Rowan first. Scott could be a tough match up as well. Clark has played a brutal schedule and it should pay off for them!

You obviously do not know much about the 8th. Weak? Yes. Shelby as the only school?? I think they've won ONE game all year...Years past Anderson, Shelby and the Oldhams have been tough teams.

Wow, such brilliant insight. Pretty sure this thread is to discuss 8th Region favorites. Scott Co and Bullitt East reside in the 11th and 6th Regions respectively and really do not belong in this discussion. Shelby County, the "only school" as you described them, has a 4-18 record this season at this point. Move along, nothing to see here.
