Who are some of the better Sophomores around the state and how are they helping their teams?

James Quick - Trinity - Running Combo

Derrick Willis - Bullitt East - Looking like Steve Novak

Cameron Lewis - Ballard - Poor Man's Devante Parker

Dominique Chandler - Central - Great outside shooter

Mike Smith - Sayre - Fillin' it up

Larry Morton - Bryan Station - Best soph 2G/SF

Omar Prewitt - Montgomery County - Fillin' it up

Tyson Williams, McCreary Central 6' 5" 220 lbs. Tyson is avgeraging a Double-Double. This Kid is really hard to Guard on the Block. He also shoots it well out on the floor.

Quan Palmer- Holmes

 

He has been a huge lift off the bench for Holmes this season and is averaging around 6 or 7 ppg. He made his first varsity start last night against West Jessamine and chipped in with 10 points, as Holmes was without their senior pg, Pierre Mayfield, who is out with a knee injury.

 

Palmer also had 8 in a huge district game against Covcath earlier this week, including 8 straight for Holmes when Covcath went on a big run.

Campbell Co- Nate McGovney- one of their leading scorers and should be considered a top 10th Region Performer the next two years.

Pendleton Co- Mason Monroe- Floor General who can get to the rack and has been starting since his 8th grade year. Another 10th Region gem.

NCC- Michael Beuter- Point guard with smarts who is deceptively quick and can shoot lights out. He is coming into his own each game he plays.

Brossart- Justin Saunders- cracked the starting lineup last year as a frosh. Good defender on the post and takes the ball to the rack very well.

St. Henry- Darius Meiman- very aggressive with excellent moves around the basket. He is another who can get to the rack and score.

Holmes- Dequan Palmer- smooth as silk and shoots lights out. He is another kid that is coming into his own the more games he plays.

Holy Cross- Christian McClendon- strong rebounder who can also shoot the 3. If he grows a couple more inches he could be lethal.

Simon Kenton- Nick Ayers- has great length and can run the floor very well. A good defender who has tremendous upside.

Simon Kenton- Andrew Sampson- he is tenacious and does a good job of getting the ball in the hoop no matter how pretty it looks. Strong with the ball and a real gamer.

I'd also add the Dunbar kid from Spencer Co. Saw him in the Lloyd Memorial and both he and his brother (senior) are nice players.

From what I've heard (not from Mason County folks, and he lit them up twice - but from a couple of guys who have been very close to 11th region basketball for a very long time), Hawkins is the real deal.
