Just got home from Erlanger and it took a little over an hour. Avoided 75 at the 275 to 75 south ramp and opted to get gas and hop on 75 South at 18 in Florence and that seemed like the best decision I could've made. I'm sporting a 12 year old honda with horrible tires and was still able to go about 55-60 most of the way on 75 south; probably could've gone faster but didn't feel the need to risk it.

 

I did pass 9 accidents between Florence and Walton with the majority being on the North bound side of traffic and one on the bridge at the 71 north merge into 75 north. Took Walton Nicholson to my house in Independence and the roads were fine I was doing 45 the whole way. I was expecting alot worse, I think I benefited a great deal in going south instead of east and then south to get home.

Now BP is Cold Spring just got robbed as well.

Left Lawrenceburg at 5:00 and didn't get to 17 where I had to drop a buddy off at his car until 8. The roads were terrible and we passed accidents everywhere.

Did I miss something with the roads?

 

I left Lebanon for Independence around 3 and made it home with a light dusting going on but nothing was sticking to the roads. I went to Rio Grande around 5 and the roads were fine. We left Rio Grande and made our way to Walton at 730, now there was snow on the side of the road but the driving lanes were still fine. After watching a fantastic SK win I headed home to Independence at 930 and the roads were still fine. It was snowing hard as heck, but the roads were perfect.

South of Richwood I thought much of the same, it seemed that much of what was horrible were the expressways not the back roads. Independence is fine, I think what it was is that the expressways started getting accidents, and then backing up. Salt trucks couldn't really get any thing down on the expressways because of the major traffic jams and the roads just continued to get covered and slick.

Took me and hour and a half to get from Ft Mitchell to Walton, left at 6 and got into WV as the game started. 75 was ice most of the way.

 

Salt trucks were out, but with temps dropping and it all happening at rush hour it was a mess, Dixie was a mess as well. Only so much you can do in some situations, and add rush hour traffic and accidents backing things up even more they can barely do anything

Out here in Independence it was ice failing, not snow that froze as black ice. It looked like Kosher salt falling as it was little ice pellets bouncing on the ground. I left my house at 5, and it took me an hour to get to the inlaws over by Hinsdale. Dudley was backed up from Turkeyfoot to at least Larosas if not further. The roads were just a complete sheet of ice. A Civic couldn't get out of my subdivision, and a cop couldn't make it up Cody to Ind. Station. I sat at the inlaws for an hour to let Dudley clear, and when I left, Dudley was OK, but Turkeyfoot wasn't that great, especially in front of Remkes. My parents live out past Piner, and they said it was fine out there way.

In Boone County it was icy at 4:00.

 

Not on 275 at Mineola. Partner of mine left 45 minutes after I did and it took him two hours to make basically the same trek home. No excuse for the road conditions. God help us when we have some serious weather.

My wife works in Ft. Thomas and I picked her up around 5:30 yesterday. Luckily, I didn't have to get on the highway, but could see both directions of 471 after picking her up. It looked like a mess.

Does anyone have a number for DOT or whoever is in charge of treating the expressways in NKY? We need to let them know that it is January. It snows in January, and the roads need to be salted and even plowed at times. Maybe even we can give them a headsup on what is called a weather forecast. That is when someone (meteorologist) who performs there job just a shade better than the salt crews, tries to warn us of impending weather. DOT! There is another snow storm coming, get your butts in the salt trucks, and at least attempt to keep the dang roads passable. Thank you,
