How tall is the 14 year old? I think that who he means.

 

He is around 6'4, but he has the skill set of a guard. He helps handle the ball against pressure, he can shoot from out on the floor, and is at his best when beating people off the dribble. He is forced to play the post some mainly because in the 15th region he is on of the better post players and possibly the best rebounder in the region.

I have seen all the above play numerous times and they are some of the best in their class no doubt. But one name I will mention that nobody is talking about or may not have seen is a freshman from Augusta named Brent Bach. This kid has some serious game and is a very unselfish player with a very high basketball IQ. Has nice handles, can get to the rim, can create his own shot and has a sweet long range shot. I was really impressed with this young man's game. Augusta is going to be successful for the next three years after this one. He may be an unknown right now but definately one to keep an eye on in the very near future. Bach has Snider handles and a Hatton jumpshot.

Ive seen Augusta this year. I don't remember a kid named Bach. I saw the Fraysure kid. He is a nice player. i believe he is a senior. Everyone else on that team, maybe with the exception of the big guy that could jump, wouldn't be able to play on most freshman/JV teams.

The best freshman in South Central Ky is no doubt Justin Edwards. He starts for a decent Southwestern Pulaski team and averages double digits. I think he may have had 28 pts in one game. He may not be #1, but he is definitely top 10.

He is no where near 6'1..

Shane Hall starts on a pretty good Johnson Central team. He scored 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 55-51 win over Scott(WV) las week. He also has at least five dunks in games this year.

Hatton may not appear to be 6'1 because of his body type but his sports physical says he is 73 1/2 inches, so unless the doctor is wrong he is 6'1. If Hatton was only 5'10 then trammel would be about 5'6 and that is not the case. However his height really doesnt have any factor in this thread. It doesnt affect his athleticism or where he would rank in the state as a Freshman.

I am 6'2" and I see him a couple days a week and he is almost eye level with me with gym shoes on. He doesnt look as tall as he is because he has an athletic build. If he was 20-30lbs lighter he would definately look his height.

It's always interesting to see these kids play and speculate on where they end up when they're seniors. Lot's of these kids at this age do well because they're more physically mature. My 2 cents says watch the kids skill level, athleticism and genetics not their stats. Are they as good as they'll ever be now? Makes for a nice high school career but doesn't get them to the next level. I've seen most of these kids play this year as well and I predict that in 1,2,&3 years the ranking order will change and some will fall off the list all together. Good observation Clyde, watch this kid in the coming years....could be big time.
