Who are the best freshmen in KY?

Featured Replies

Just wondering how many of the top ten freshmen listed have been held back in school ?

Could really care less about hold backs, but it is a legitimate question. Gives a decisive advantage, no question. After all, isn't that why they were held back to begin with. No big deal. To answer your question, many on the list are older than their frosh peers. Hope we don't evolve this thread into another hold back discussion. It's old and tired.

Hatton is in ther top 1-3 but he is not 6'1

Good list but I would switch Hatton and Snyder. These boys are both extremely talented, however I have seen them play many times especially during the summer AAU and Hatton has a certain edge over Snyder. It is a tough call but I would place Hatton as 1 and Snyder as 2

Who did Snyder play AAU with?

I believe he played with the following teams: The Ville, The Royal Family and The Tarheels.

One of the best freshmen in Eastern Kentucky would have to be Justin Johnson from Sheldon Clark. The kid pulled down 19 rebounds against Bowling Green and Chane Behanan in the Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic. The kid is only 14 years old and could be something special by the time he is finished.

Is this the 6'9 kid? Or does he play at Shelby Co?

I ran into him this past Saturday and he is every bit of 6' 1".

Behanan is the highest rated recruit in the state. He is going to UofL. I don't know if he is 6'9 maybe closer to 6'6 or 6'7 but is a 5 star recruit and the 14 year old Johnson more than held his own against him IMO.

How tall is the 14 year old? I think that who he means.

Quentin, has a complete game as a point guard, Brandon's more of a shooting guard. I agree with Rainman, J Davis, may be the number one player in the class.

All of the players discussed in this thread are solid. At this age, it's typically the guards who flourish and the bigs will catch up later. I have enjoyed watching them all play ball. I think the class of '14 is very strong.

I have seen all the above play numerous times and they are some of the best in their class no doubt. But one name I will mention that nobody is talking about or may not have seen is a freshman from Augusta named Brent Bach. This kid has some serious game and is a very unselfish player with a very high basketball IQ. Has nice handles, can get to the rim, can create his own shot and has a sweet long range shot. I was really impressed with this young man's game. Augusta is going to be successful for the next three years after this one. He may be an unknown right now but definately one to keep an eye on in the very near future. Bach has Snider handles and a Hatton jumpshot.

"Bach has Snider handles and a Hatton jumpshot." That is saying a lot. Not saying it's impossible but..... Why compare the kids who play different positions? Just rate them 1-3 per position.

Trust me on this one and no I don't have a dog in this fight.

I just know a player & talent when I see one.

Maybe some of the Augusta or Bracken faithful can back me up on this kid's skill.

I had never seen this kid till this winter and couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Like I said....one to keep an eye on.

Where is he currently playing Dr.? Frosh, JV, Varsity? How is he doing? Tell us more about him. What team did he play with on the summer circuit? Size?

Like I said I had never seen him play till this winter so I am not sure he played on the "summer circuit".

At a small school like Augusta he plays frosh, JV and Varsity. I don't know how much he has played in Varsity action.

I am guessing he is 6'0" -6'1".
