Didn't he say some crap last year too though? I don't think anyone is worried just yet in LA. However, I think if Artest and Bynum do not get alot better I don't know if LA can beat Boston.

Bynum is still fat and out of shape. They have plenty of time. Going into the playoffs last year the Lakers were playing pretty bad as well.

True :thumb:. At some point I think they need to sit Gasol for a few games. He got beat up to start the season, he could use some rest.

Magic Johnson treats the Lakers the same way Jay Bilas treats Duke. Always dogs them out, always picks against them and is never complimentary on camera about the Lakers. Plus, if he ever says anything good he'll be accused of being a homer. Isn't he still part owner of the Lakers?

Look, I realize this game really didn't matter but feel that mentally it could matter later on. I realize all the Lakers are aiming to do is coast into the Playoffs, and then start their season (pretty much the same way the Celtics did last year). BUT, this thread has really made me realize what I have known all along, Laker fans can make an excuse for anything, I guess they have learned from the best (us UK fans) .

Miami is going to give anyone fits if they put that much effort into playing D.

I know it was not the intent of this thread, but I am so tired of hearing all of these people say, "Miami is proving all the doubters wrong and shutting them all up." What? No, this is exactly what we thought would happen. Two of the top players in the game and another all star player, you should be this good and we expect it. That was the whole point.

My worries come from just no gas in the tank like most. In the modern era, only two teams have advanced to four straight NBA Finals. None won more than two titles in that span. It just takes a toll on you playing that many extra games season after season. Kobe has already played in 7 NBA Finals. Other interesting stat I heard yesterday: The Lakers have not won a series in which they did not have home court advantage since Shaq was playing for them.

Miami can't prove anything during the regular season.

 

This particular game was a good matchup, entertaining for fans, and a nice win by the Heat...on the road against the two-time defending champions.

 

If the Lakers play like this the rest of the season and into the playoffs, I'd be more worried about beating Dallas and San Antonio to get to the finals than the possibility of meeting the Heat. On the flipside, if regular season games are so important, as a Laker fan, I'll hold off on worrying about Miami until they prove they can beat the top dog in the east, Boston, to actually get there.

 

The Lakers need to get everyone in game shape and head into the playoffs a healthy team. That's priority #1.
