Camels came out in ta 2-3 zone and the Colonels marched out to a 21-7 lead, pretty much dooming the Camel's chances from the git-go.

The zone seemed to have made the Camels a bit lethargic on defense when they switched it up to man-man for the duration of the half.

In the third period, the Camels played with resolve, the way we have seen them play defensively in previous games, causing the Colonels problems.

Thelan and Baker must have thought that Christmas came early, as they were pretty much uncontested down low all night, and the guards did a great job getting them the ball - contributing to the 62% shooting night from the field.

I enjoyed doing the broadcast with Mark Werhy, sitting in for Jason Elfers.

Too bad these two teams do not play later in the season. I think the result would be much different.

I'm not well versed on the Camels so I ask. Who was the player missing and do you think the Camels could have won last night with him playing?

I am a believer that guards and specifically PG's are the key to consistent success at the HS level. Right now Covcath is getting great guard play from Maschinot, Riedinger, Cleves and Massie. Having said that I can not remember a 9th region team that alters shots like the big's from CovCath do. Baker, Connelly, Thelen and Hayden are playing fantastic help defense. So even when one of the guards gets beat, the inside guys are making it miserable for the player driving to the basket.

 

The team chemistry on the CovCath team is probably the most enjoyable part of watching them play. They are very unselfish on offensive with some of the best passing and assist I have seen at CovCath in years. Last night several of the plays were globe trotteresque in the ball movement and no look passes.

My first look at Losey and McGovney this year. Good ballplayers. I'm curious to see where McGovney is in his physical growth ie is he finished growing. Good ball skills. Losey is quick and I'd imagine he gets a lot of points at the rim. CCH did a nice job on him last night.

Wow...Covcath absolutely dominated the Camels. Very impressive performance by the boys from Park Hills.

 

As to the question asked earlier in the thread, I've seen both Covcath and Dixie several times as well.

 

Dixie has better guards, Covcath has a better front court. Take your pick. That will be one hell of a match up.

 

As a Holmes fan, I'm hoping when the region tournament gets here, those two are on the same side of the bracket because early on they're hands down the top 2 teams in the region, IMO.

He shoots pictures for the schools year book, sells them. He is at many Region 9 events every year. He is a great guy but only the school gets the disc of his stuff. And he is one of the best photographers I have met. Way above my level of competency. He told me he shot over 600 pictures last night.

 

And no I won't do knee pads now or in the future!

How long have Kennedy and Franzen been out?

 

Franzen has been out the entire year, broken collar bone in football, Kennedy was hurt and was out more than half of the Cooper game, then hurt again in the Bracken game and was out half or more of that game. I don't know how many games he will be out now. For Graff, anyone who has played with a face mask knows how it limits your vision. It did mine, lets just say a "few" years ago. CCH is still a tough match up for the Camels, even at full strength. I think a little reality check never hurt anyone, and the Camels got theirs last night. Hopefully they will learn and move on. Nice win For the Colonels.
