Has Ohio State ever?????

Featured Replies

I read the question and just assumed that anyone that ever watches ESPN or college football already knew the answer. Its mentioned on every Bowl preview show! I apologize if you really did not know the answer to your question before your asked it. As a Buckeye fan you get a little tired of hearing it. I don't feel like I was talking trash either but the post earlier stated I was.

I watch a ton of ESPN. I knew of the winless mark in bowl games, but did not know the regular season numbers. I may need to watch more

I love how SEC fans like to talk trash about Ohio State. Ohio State has been to and won more BCS games than any other school but they still get no respect. Yes their record in bowl games against the SEC is 0-9 but they are 7-2-2 in regural season games. That stat never gets brought up. You always here about how many more athletes the SEC has than the Big Ten and that is true because of one reason, oversigning. Take Arkansas for instance, in the last five recruiting classes they have signed 135 players to Ohio States 99, for those that don't want to do the math that is a difference of 36 players. While the SEC schools are jerking scholarships and forcing kids to take medical hardships so they can stay at the 85 scholarship limit, Ohio State stays under the 85 scholarship limit and awards scholarships to fourth and fifth year walk on players who have busted their but for the team. If you don't think the oversigning provides SEC teams with a distinct advantage than I would day you are just wearing your SEC glasses. I am not saying they are breaking the rules in doing this but they are definetly beniding them for a competative advantage. The SEC has changed the rule to signing no more that 28 per class but that still equates to 112 for a four year period in which you can only keep 85. What happens to the other 27 kids?

Sounds like Ohio State, the rest of the Big Ten, and the other conferences are idiots then if they aren't taking advantage of this practice.

Also, what about the other 14 kids OSU signs over a four year period? Are they treated any differently than the "other 27 kids" that are signed by the SEC schools?

Perhaps nobody ever brings it up, because they don't want the SEC fans to get the opportunity to point out that of those 7 wins 6 of them are against SEC doormats UK and Vandy and all of those occurred prior to 1935. The Buckeyes did beat LSU in Columbus in 1988, so I guess that is one win against a top tier SEC school.

I figured it was something like that. I know I couldn't recall too many OSU vs. SEC showdowns in the regular season.

It's interesting though. Why does Ohio State catch such slack for their BCS failures? Oklahoma has lost 5 consecutive times in BCS Bowls. If the Buckeyes get knocked, the Sooners should get it worse.

2004 - They lost 21-14 to LSU in a game where they were physically pushed all over the field.

2005 - USC trounced them 55-19, while Auburn finished their undefeated season against VaTech.

2007 - Their most respectable performance, a 43-42 loss...to Boise State.

2008 - A 48-28 beatdown by West Virginia.

2009 - They brought one of the greatest offenses in NCAA history and posted 14 points. Still, they tied the game early in the fourth before fading down the stretch and losing by 10. Judge this one how you wish.

Regardless, their BCS history is easily worse than OSU's, yet you don't hear too much about it.

Agreed, and yet every single year they still manage to land some where in the top 10 after the first few weeks of play..... I'm sure next year will be different for them lol.

I think the SEC grows its BCS bowl win streak against the Buckeyes. I think this one will be closer than the others have been, but believe Arkansas still pulls it out. I do hope that Ohio State wins, which I would usually not say that, but I don't want to see Petrino win after everything he's done.

Yeah the rest of the schools are idiots for offering kids a full ride scholarship for 4 years and keeping them the full 4 years even if the scholarships are renewed on an annual basis. In regards to the 14 kids from OSU, there are kids that leave after 3 years for the NFL and there are also some that have transferred but I bet you can't find one of them that was forced from the program. You can say what you want about Tressel but he is loyal to a fault.

Ohio State is one of those teams like the New York Yankees/Notre Dame football that people either love or hate. I grew up in Ohio and have been a Buckeye fan for as long as I can remember so I will continue to defend my team. Even though sometimes it is tough to do!

1) You're smart enough to know that the SEC teams have more underclassmen leave for the draft (LSU, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, etc.) than Ohio State on an annual basis.

2) Scholarships are 1 year deals. No where in the NCAA bylaws, or otherwise is it stated that scholarships are for 4 years. It's very clear they are on a one year basis. No different than an academic scholarship. If I wouldn't have lived up to my academic potential in college, should they still have renewed my full ride every year? Absolutely not. Same goes for athletes and living up to their playing potential.

3) People hate the Buckeyes, because of their fans. Has nothing to do with the team, the coach, or anything else.

1. Ohio State usually has three to four players per year leave ealry for the draft, which is probably right on average of what the higher tier SEC teams have leave early. Despite how poor you seem to think the talent level is at OSU, I checked each of the schools you mentioned for current NFL players and OSU was third on the list with 38. LSU has 44 which is the most and Georgia was second with 39. The rest of the list goes Florida-34, Auburn-28, Alabama-26 and Arkansas-15.

2. Do you really think the coaches that are recruiting these kids sit in their living rooms with the kids parents and tell these kids they are only coming in for one year and if things go well and they preform up the a certain level that they will be able to potentially be able to stay all 4 years. These kids commit to a school thinking that they will be there for four or five years nd will get a degree from that institution. I am aware that scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis. You are entitled to your opinion but I don't think it is right!

3. There is no difference in a Ohio State football fan and a UK basketball fan. I have lived in KY for nearly 20 years and know how both fan bases are. Ohio is more passionate about football and Kentucky is more passiontate about basketball. I am fully aware of the perception of Ohio State fans and have taken several UK fans up to OSU football games and they hav all came away very impressed with the game day atmosphere. I have also taken OSU fans to a UK basketball game and they cannot belive how much different it is than watching a game in Columbus. They also came away impressed.

Pryor says he paid for his tat.

Let's hope he kept a receipt or used a card to pay.

Vegas has pulled the OSU/Arkansas game due to the questions being raised.
