One issue that makes KY HS football somewhat different IMO is as someone mentioned earlier there is so much disparity in school enrollment sizes in KY within the classes. At 4 classes their were schools competing for the same class title that had an enrollment of 25% less or more students. Even with 6 classes their are some big spreads in enrollment from the top to the bottom of some of the classes. Not sure what the answer is that would make everyone happy...well there isn't one as some people on BGP live just to post complaints...which is their right to do.

Here is an interesting article from the Lexington paper back in February talking about why football has 6 classes but basketball, soccer, baseball , and softball only have one.

NO I don't think the Bengals should make the playoffs. You must be my wife because for some reason you keep wanting to tell me what my goal is and what I think. I bet the winless teams stay winless after their playoff game also. Maybe you should just stop watching and worrying about KY high school football and you wouldn't be so stressed.

I'm not so naive that I don't understand that football is a much more "size intensive" undertaking for a school than many other sports, and needs to be classified; but simply feel that too many classes lessens the achievement of winning a championship. If you and others chose to think otherwise, that's cool.

I understand a line has to be drawn somewhere and 6 classes stretches as far as it will go but I just think it gives more and opportunity to succeed.

I have two things because I'm tired of all this bash X and Trinity for being good...

1) they are all 16-18 yr old boys no matter what school or class they are in. Let them play football and to be the best you got to beat the best...that's what I've always been told...

2) I don't think California is whining this much about De LaSalle being great. And they've won 19 straight state championships!! Imagine the backlash that would occur if it were to happen in KY!

Who has bashed X and T for being good? X and T haven't been bashed. Their attendance and financial aid policies have been questioned and the fact that they have nearly double the enrollment of most schools in their class has been questioned.

Here's another fact for you: The difference of boys in Scott County versus Male is greater than the difference of boys in Trinity versus Scott County.

I would like to see 4 classes for the public schools and then have 2 classes for the private schools.(total of six classes). Let the private schools schedule public schools to fiil the season but have their own playoffs as well as the public schools.

This is about 5 class proposal. I don't think anyone has bashed T or X. I agree it is teenagers playing football so thats why I think the more success the better. De LaSalle has won 19 straight North Coast section titles. The State Bowl games have only being on 5 years. LaSalle is 2-2 and playing again this year. They are also in the OPEN division which is for the best schols regardless of size.

By a quick count off of the KHSAA enrollment report I counted fourteen schools with male enrollment in the 700's and 9 schools with enrollment in the 800's. I would say that makes a majority out of 32 teams.

Thats why I used the phrase "nearly doubled" and not "doubled." For instance, I would consider Ryle's 2010-2011 male enrollment of 726 to be nearly Doubled by Trinity's male enrollment of 1357. I know words mean things. It seems very clear that Trinity and X have a male population vastly larger than most of their 6A competition, and larger than all of their 6A competition. Also, how is 1357 not near 1500? It is over 90% of 1500 which would make it nearly doubleing their population.

I don't disagree. Enrollment is definitely an advantage. I'm just pointing out with LW that Trinity doesn't nearly double most 6A schools. That is unless you call a difference of atleast 150 students nearly insignificant.
