The new 4A East bracket appears to be loaded with powerful contenders. Just wondering, who will likely be the "big dogs" of the West bracket next season, and for seasons to come.

 

District 1 - Calloway County, Hopkins County Central, Lone Oak, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Owensboro

District 2 - Allen County-Scottsville, Breckinridge County, Franklin-Simpson, Warren East

District 3 - Atherton, Collins, North Oldham, Spencer County, Waggener

District 4 – Doss, Fairdale, Moore, Valley, Western

District 5 - Boyle County, Lexington Catholic, Marion County, Mercer County, Taylor County

District 6 - Clay County, Knox Central, Rockcastle County, Russell County

District 7 - Covington Catholic, Harrison County, Highlands, Holmes, Pendleton County

District 8 - Ashland Blazer, Boyd County, Greenup County, Johnson Central, Rowan County

The West teams are playing for 5th/6th best team in 4A.

Lone Oak should be able to beat anyone on the East save Highlands being that they started a Freshman 6'3 QB this year and dang near won the Region against a VERY good Allen Co. team.

 

Franklin returns two top flight players in the Wickware;s as well as a host of athletes.

 

It will be hard to derail what Allen has going being that while they lost a lot of Seniors, they return both their ILB's on defense and some quality skill players on offense.

 

Owensboro is Owensboro and will benifit from getting away from BG, Christian, and Warren Central.

 

That's Region 1, I don't know much about Region 2

Keep an eye on Collins.

...and the East isn't? There are two teams in the East, Highlands and Boyle. The 2010 ACS team would have blasted everyone this year but those two. The 2009 Lone Oak team would have blasted everyone but those two.

Not so fast my friend. There isnt anyone in the West that would have beaten Johnson Central this yr. PERIOD!!!!!

Add in a rebuilding CovCath program and an always dangerous LexCath and East is the dominate force. Sorry, jmo.

The State Championship will be played in every week but the last week next yr in 4A on the East side.

It doesn't matter who is in the East or the West. It is Highlands and then everyone else is playing for second. Make no mistake though, Johnson Central will lose to Highlands and the proclaim themselves to be the second best team in 4A.

Darn, I was really hoping to see Bell County in 4-A. THey talk so much about how great they are: "best in 5 classes". I wonder if their coach will find a way to actually schedule Highlands? I do look forward to seeing great games with Boyle and Lex Cath on a more regular basis now. If HHS can't beat them....I'll pull for them to continue the East dominance.
