Obviously if a family CAN afford, cars, luxury vacations,big scrren tv's they can probably affort tuition. What if I'm a single mother, on welfare, of an 8 year old, 11 year old and 16 year old who happens to be an excellent football player? I want my 16 year old to go to Trinity to further his education and his athletic experience. Will he A. be turned down. B. Simple go for free or C. will tuition be covered by some other means?

I won't be happy until there are no young men that can't go to Trinity for financial reasons. All of that financial aid is awarded in strict accordance with the letter and spirit of KHSAA rules. That means that athletics is not part of the equation. I know there are a lot of folks that don't believe that. I can't do much about that.

Without a DOB that doesn't mean much. KHSAA rule is as long as you turn 19 after Aug first your fine to play. I knew the living with a coach was an issue and that was his freshman year (93-94). Never heard any issue brought up about his age.

 

Look, he was allowed to play by the rules, my birthday is August 29th......I was 17 when I reported to WKU to play football.....Two years later, Tony was 20 when he reported to Notre Dame to play football. Now that's something.

Can the parent volunteer and student use workstudy to cover that half or part of that half? I have to repeat this question since I don't think it has been properly answered. It was bought up earlier, but has there ever been a student attend Trinity High School on a sponsorship?

Aid is limited by the amount of money available. If there was enough money available to cover 100 percent of documented need, that is the number that would be covered. I am trying my best to ask ??'s I don't kmow the answer to. Why offense is taken to it I'm not sure? Can a parent volunteer and student do workstudy to cover other half or part of other half of tuition. Trinity doesn't win football championships because of star athletes. They win because of NUMBER of good players.

That is why I am interested in the fact that nobody has openly refuted the statement made earlier on here that students have attented Trinity off of sponsorship. Why? The entire high school experience is superior, and football (or any other sport or activity) is a cog in that wheel.

How? They pay tuition (at least 50%) or else they do not attend. Is there no one out there that thinks if there were "sponsors" out there that Devonte Parker and DeMarcus Smith (and dozens before them) would have been enticed to T or X?

It is none of my business and I didn't try to make it my business. I simply ask ??'s I didn't know answers to and made statements that are true. Not sure why the jabs have to always be thrown but if it makes you feel better then go ahead. I have considered sending my child to private school but I think it's something I will reconsider.

Does tiution cover meals, books, materials for classes? Are there fees for playing sports or is this also covered in tuition?

You can't attend a private institution under full scholarship for any reason and be an eligable athlete. If you are attempting to keep athletes in your district, and they are going to a private institution, I fail to see how that doesn't become other people's business. It becomes other people's business when competition is involved because those decisions are affecting other people IMO. As far as the beating the dead horse from the earlier post, I am simply waiting for somone to say that no one has ever attended Trinity on a sponsorship. This is the first I have ever heard of it, I have asked about it, and no one has fully refuted it. I would have thought this would have been fully refuted the first time someone bought it up in this thread, but it wasn't.

It can't be fully refuted because you are asking to prove a negative. I will state without reservation that Trinity complies with the rules of the KHSAA. With regaard to financial aid, a scholarship is not the same as need based financial aid. If you read the KHSAA handbook that I provided a link for, you will see that merit based awards cannot be more than 25 percent. There is no such limit on need based financial aid.
