No way its the last installment, leaving too much money on the table....

 

Christopher Nolan has made it pretty clear that it is his last installment. He's said in several interviews that he thought he was pushing his luck by making a very successful sequel, and has asked, furthermore, how many movie series there are out there are with one good sequel, much less two? Now, does that mean Warner Brothers will leave their cash cow out to pasture? Nope. I'd say there's a very good chance they'll do exactly what they did with their first series of Batman films...beat them till they're dead.

Or as Hollywood is doing w/ Spiderman, re-booting a series that started less than a decade ago.

I believe Christian Bale has also said that he will not return unless Christopher Nolan does.

 

Both have said repeatedly they would have nothing to do with the franchise if Robin is ever brought into the picture.

Nolan has placed emphasis on making the films close to reality, unlike the glorified cartoons known as Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. That emphasis, coupled with outstanding characters and performances (namely Oldman, Freeman & Ledger), have made these two most recent films hugely successful.

 

He also limits the list of villian characters he can use in this way. He doesn't want any characters that can't be explained through some kind of "logic". He doesn't want to have to go with anything overly-fantastic to just bring a character into a story - which is why we're not going to see the Bane, Mr. Freeze, Solomon Grundy, Blockbuster, Clayface, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Man-Bat or the like.

 

 

I'd love to see Egghead, Victor Zsasz, The Ventriloquist, or Deadshot show up in there somewhere - especially Deadshot. I've read some rumors of The Red Hood making an appearance too...

Couldn't agree more with your two points. I don't usually care to much for the comics turned movies until these because of those two factors.

I know they won't but if they did bring the Riddler into play, I personally would LOVE to see Michael C Hall from Dexter play him.

The thing I do not like about Dr. Hugo Strange being the villain is that he is closely related to Scarecrow.

He would have been awesome in the previous series. He could have made the old movie watchable.

Details regarding the plot are expected either to be released or leaked online sometime this week, since the script was supposed to be turned in yesterday.

Latest I've heard:

• The Batman & Superman franchises will not cross over. (Good riddance.)
  
• Aaron Eckhart has confirmed that Two-Face will not appear at all in the 3rd movie.
  
• Tom Hardy is signed on for the movie, but has indicated that he is not assigned a character in the cast as of yet. Many articles have speculated that he will play Hugo Strange, although the character's role in the story has not been confirmed either.
  
• Natalie Portman will not be in the cast
  
• Charlize Theron is rumored to have been cast as a character based on Sarah Essen - one of the characters from Frank Miller's series of Batman comics.
  
• Vera Farminga and Kacie Thomas are being considered for the role of old-school Batman character, Julie Madison.
