"Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in the third Christopher Nolan Batman film. In comic book lore, Kyle is also known as Catwoman....the studio announced Tom Hardy, who appeared in Nolan's Oscar contender "Inception," has been set to play Bane."

I don't much care for Bane as a character, but I guess I'll leave it to Christopher Nolan to impress me. I can definitely dig on the idea of Anne Hathaway in a cat suit.

Bane could be great if done correctly. I have to believe Nolan will get it right.

The reason these Batman movies have been so successful is because of the way Nolan has taken the villians and made them realistic. I can't wait to see what he does with Bane, and of course Hathaway in a cat suit is all kinds of hot.

In the comics Bane was not only a powerhouse he was an extremely intelligent person who basically tore Batman completely down (by freeing all of his most powerful enemies from Arkham at once, forcing Batman to round all of them up) before facing him himself. If done that way rather then the mindless brute he was in Batman and Robin then there is real potential for this as a character. I wonder in Catwoman will be played strictly as a villain or will she have the romantic attachments that Selina Kyle currently has for Batman in the comics?

Good point about Bane. It would be a great way to bring in multiple comic book characters as more minor roles in the movie. As for Selina Kyle, I don't see how he could possibly stay away from pitching the love-interest angle with her character. With Rachel Dawes killed off, it seems like the logical place to go with the plot...at least is seems that way to me, anyway.

I have also heard that Julie Madison was going to be a character in this movie. That's very old school Bruce love interest.

I've read about Julie Madison rumors as well, and I wouldn't mind seeing her fit in there (I like it when they get into old-school references). Her character was just speculative as far as I know of though.

 

Based on the introduction of the Bane character, I kind of wonder whether or not the story might follow the "Knightfall" arc from the Legends Of The Dark Knight series, instead of the "Prey" arc, which was originally rumored and was heavily reliant on dealings between Hugo Strange and Batman.

 

Knightfall is the story arc in which Bane breaks himself, Joker, Scarecrow, The Mad Hatter, The Ventriloquist, Firefly, Cavalier, The Film Freak and Victor Zsasz out of Arkham Asylum. Batman has to round all of those villains back up, and then has a major battle with Bane, after which he has to take on Azrael, a religious wacko who thinks he is acting as/on the part of the Angel of Death.

 

There are two or three smaller Selina Kyle/Catwoman arcs from LOTDK that could pretty easily be worked into the plots of any of the other arcs as well.

Bane does not break himself out. Batman had never even met him before KnightFall. And there were many, many more than just those guys, though they might have been the bigs.

 

I like the idea of KnightFall, but unfortunately it is not really something that IMO can be pulled off in one movie. Knightfall was not just Bane taking down Batman, it was Batman ultimately having to reclaim the mantle from Azrael (in KnightsEnd). I'm of the opinion that would have to be a two movie story.

KnightFall is one of my favorites. The trade paperback collection of KnightFall and Knight's End as well as the novelization is about 8 feet from where I'm sitting. I'm pretty refreshed on it!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been cast in TDKR. His role is not yet known, early speculation was that he'd play the Riddler, but later Nolan revealed that the Riddler would not be in the movie.

I've gotta say, I, for one, hope that Nolan doesn't incorporate the Riddler. I've just never been particularly fond of the Riddler.
