I think some people (not necessarily you) would not mind seeing this fail due to what it pertains to. Even if you do not wish it to be done it will provides thousands of jobs and bring money to the state. Why can't we be happy about that?

 

I can definitely see this thing succeeding. The Creation Museum is doing well plus the tri-state and bordering states have a huge percentage of Christians. I think some are trying to discourage it just because they do not like that it is Christian based and its pathetic.

 

I should also point out that Islam and Judaism also believe in the flood so I would think it would attract all religions.

Oh I absolutely agree and, on the face of it, don't have a problem with the tax benefits. Just pointing out that they are, in fact, receiving them...

First of all, let's establish that you know nothing of what I am or am not tolerant toward, and to what extent. And I'm not here, nor do I need to, defend my faith and personal beliefs to you.

 

Now that we have that taken care of, what you need to understand is that not everyone interprets the Bible in a strictly literal manner. There are a great deal of Christians (probably the vast majority) who understand that science (as we know it) plays a role in interpreting our past. The Bible stories are important, and are based in some truth. But we have to look at them with our God-given common sense.

 

People outside the state do make fun of the creation museum and the ideas it promotes. This ark thing will likely serve to accentuate that. Maybe it will turn out to be such an economic boon to the state that it compensates for any negative perceptions it might produce. We shall see.

They are building it on the historical context of the bible. Not what you beleive or the vast majority beleive. Get over it.

They make fun of us anyway. I can tell you living here in Cali, nobody has ever mentioned " Hey you're from the state that has the Creation Museum and the Ark Theme PArk!! Boy are you guys some backwards people!" So you can't use that perception of it. You just don't like the idea and you are criticizing it to the extent.

Kentuckians probably get made fun of no less than residents of a state that had the collective wisdom to elect Ahnold as governor.

I thought I read that one of the aims of the park was to demonstrate that 2 of every species could be housed in a life-sized ark. Somebody correct me if I misread - it wouldn't be the first time.

 

There are about a quarter-million species of non-arthropods (and at least another 900,000 arthropods). Seems like it would be crowded to me; especially considering that a couple of rooms for animal food would be needed.

 

Although to be fair, wouldn't it be safe to say that species dwelling in water would be better off outside the ark than in?

First, I'm happy for anything that brings jobs to Kentucky. Will I visit? I'm not sure. I think it depends on if it's trying to "teach" me something or entertain me.

 

Now, I have a proposal for my Catholic friends....can we get a Vatican City theme park? I mean...people could help paint the Sistine Chapel and get lost in the Vatican Archives...maybe we could do a daily show focused on a Papal Conclave. Just sayin....

How much like "Heritage theme Parks" in North Carolina will this be like? (For those too young to remember, It was PTL idea with Jim Baker at the head) Those parks didn't do too badly at first if I remember but the misappropriations at the top by the PTL people sunk it. When Jerry Falwell took it over he saw it as a loss and tore it down.

 

I guess my question is: Can "Six Flags over Jesus" work? If managed properly it just might.
