Some people opened a "tourist attraction" in Newport where you could walk on top of a bridge and actually walk out over the water. It was going to work because it was very popular in Australia. Failed miserably.

 

In addition, you've got Kings Island for people to go to.

I'd be uncomfortable banking on support from the Creation Museum fans. How many such museums exist in the midwest? The country? 1?

I'm all for it, but lets be realistic here. It will be good for the Golden Triangle because that's where its going. I don't think it will be good for the entire state. Just a part of it. That is, of course, you can tell me how Hickman County and Ohio County will benefit from the Ark going to Grant County.

I think something like this, coupled with the creation museum, is going to give people reason to see Kentucky as a backward state.

Along with about a million other reasons.

Sounds like we will be funding it. I'll be really surprised if this makes it past the ACLU and the atheists.

I propose a museum that will bring thousands of jobs and revenue to Kentucky. The main theme of my museum is that God doesn't exist and religion is bad. You cool with the public funding it?

If Answers In Genesis is behind it, I think it has a good chance. Within the evangelical community, they have incredible influence and support.

First of all, let's establish that you know nothing of what I am or am not tolerant toward, and to what extent. And I'm not here, nor do I need to, defend my faith and personal beliefs to you.

 

Now that we have that taken care of, what you need to understand is that not everyone interprets the Bible in a strictly literal manner. There are a great deal of Christians (probably the vast majority) who understand that science (as we know it) plays a role in interpreting our past. The Bible stories are important, and are based in some truth. But we have to look at them with our God-given common sense.

 

People outside the state do make fun of the creation museum and the ideas it promotes. This ark thing will likely serve to accentuate that. Maybe it will turn out to be such an economic boon to the state that it compensates for any negative perceptions it might produce. We shall see.

 

If people don't believe the bible to be literal do they believe the bible? You can't pick and choose truths and stories in the bible IMO. It's all or nothing.

As I read it, the public is not really funding this in the sense that it will not reduce the states coffers in any way.

If you are just worried about jokes people might say, you need to get more of a life. By the way, I think Noah, who built the ark in case you didn't know, was laughed at a lot more in his day for building a boat when it had never rained before. I think he had the last laugh on that one, or God did.

Obviously this may be for another thread, but how? How can people pick and choose what they believe? Don't people either believe the bible or dismiss it? Especially the NT and that Jesus was the son of God and that he died and rose from the dead? If the bible isn't true including the Ark and the flood wasn't Jesus just a good preacher and a "magician"?
