Any more news about moving the game to a different field? I know that a couple of years ago, we moved one of our playoff games to a different field because ours was in bad shape as well from previous weeks of rain games. I don't know if KHSAA made us or we did it on our own.

But if we do have to play, we only need to remember last years game at Belfry and their field conditions. As we all know it will be extremely important to hold onto the ball. Take the yards they give us, but the RB's and QB's must MUST put 2 hands on the ball and cover it up and hold on, because I'm sure Newport will be trying to strip it all night (just as we should)

That is correct two hands on that Ball Boys. :dancingpa

I give Russell the advantage on the ground its supose to get down to 26 Friday night. It can be real hard to catch a football with below freezing temps.

That is true, my hope is that we can jump out early, create a nice cushion and then let our offense just grind out the clock and play keep away. I'm not into making predictions, so I'll just stick to making observations.

It may be and feel like 26 in the stands, but trust me. Once the game gets moving... Most of those guys won't be real worried about the temp. Their hearts will be pumping so hard, 26 should not make a real difference.

Your about to find out how good Russell is Friday no way Newport scores 34. :ylsuper:

The same could be said of Newport.

..................Total Offense...Rush...Pass.....Tot Y/G

Team Season Totals: 2214...1982...4196.....419.6

Averageing 42.3 Points/PG

Created 29 turnovers.

This is my only cause for concern.

21.1 Point/PG by opposition.

I'll still pick the Wildcats though in this one.

But when a ball comes flying at you in freezing temps its hard to catch because it makes the ball feel like a big piece of ice hitting u in the hands. We all know how it feals to be hit with ice as im sure about everybody at some point in there life has had a snowball/iceball fight.

Russell 34

Newport 20

26 degrees will NOT make a difference in receiving. There will not be any dropped passes because the ball feels like a snowball.

I disagree But anyway Go Devils. :dancingpa

Now the hits dished out after the ball hits those hands may be a different story. The defensive backfield for Russell punishes receivers.

I agree with that even if they do catch it they better look out for the dbs. :flame:

That hit Tommy Brown made earlier this year was nasty. I can still here that hit. That kid had no clue where he was the rest of the game and he was one of their better players.

I expect because of the weather that if they do want to pass they will try to dink and dunk the short passes. Those passes tend to come in softer and make them easier to catch, but I agree that the Db's need to make sure they are in the right place to dislodge, break up or punish the receivers. I've also been told that their quarterback is good at improvising on broken plays, so I expect Coach Morris to have his d'ends containing him in the pocket, much like we did against Fleming.

How does Russell's Defense compare to East Carters Defense?

Way more physical, alot quicker. Russell's Defense is much better than East Carter's
