I was just looking at the stats for the season on khsaa...Monroe looks pretty good offensively, but not so good defensively!!! The good news is that the defense has come together at the correct time in the season and the offense is just getting more dangerous. I am getting the pregame jitters again about a third straight region appearance, and I feel that its Monroe's game to lose! The only thing that sucks is that Danville does not report their stats to the khsaa...so everyone does not actually know how they stack up against anyone in 2a.

Monroe comes into the game at 8-4. Until the playoffs you defeated 1 team with a winning record (and they were 7-6). The four losses to teams with winning records were your last 4 games of the season and none of those games were within a TD at the end.

 

Monroe owns an upset win over Washington by 1 point in a shootout and then dispatches a losing Fort Knox team in the 2nd round.

 

Meanwhile Danville has 3 losses to: Boyle (defending state 4A champ), Somerset (3A runnerup that's unbeaten again this year), and Southwestern (a 5A school). The Ads own victories over Mason County (who finished the season 10-2 in 3A), Pikeville (whose 8-4 & still alive in 1A), Washington County, and Frankfort (whose 9-3 & still alive in 1A).

 

Those are the only "stats" you need to be aware of because whatever your rush or defensive stats are, they were set in wins vs. very inferior teams.

 

The schedule strength of Danville is so far above Monroe it's impossible to debate. And you say "it's ours to loose???" Come on. Give credit where it's due. Monroe can win Friday night but it's not like stats or schedules show you as some superior opponent to a program that's won 10 state titles and has the season they have so far. :irked:

Good articlle. Coach Harp is one of the best coaches in the state and Danville has been one of the best programs in the state for Quite sometime. Monroe has been to state semi-final for our best finish in school history while Danville has won 10 Titles. The only difference is that none of Danville's main players have won a region title game while Monroe has players who have played on last two region champs. I think in close game this will give Monroe the edge if game not close either way it wiil not matter.

As far as me having no respect for Danville...that is farther from the truth than anything!!! I have nothing but respect for this program and Coach Harp. I am just stating my opinion on this one and I would hope that the Danville faithful would know when the facts speak and when it is just a parent/fans opinion. I am very aware of the Admirals 10 state championships and I am also aware that Monroe does not have any! But that facts are the facts, a lot of these kids have played two fourteen games seasons coming into this year and have been to the semi's the same. They as players have been one game away two years straight...so if that does not make them dangerous what does? Coach Harp has been to so many State games that I can not even fathom, but alls he can do is tell them what to do and where to be and the rest is up to them...I am very proud for your boys getting this far this year and will definately root for them the rest of the way if they win, but me personaly I am not ready to become an Admiral Fan just yet:D:thumb:

It's cool to be a fan/parent. However to make statements about "It's ours to lose," when the facts are that Danville has every bit as impressive a resume as Monroe this year is homerism that indirectly says: "Even if we lose it will be our fault, not the other team is better." That's one that always bothers me. It's not about being a fan of an opponent, it's about respecting them.

I can vouch for tsyoung7. He loves his team and I guarantee you he does not underestimate any opponent. I enjoyed his company during a frigid tail-kicking in 2008 in Tompkinsville so much that I dined with him here in Bardstown before an equally bad blood-letting in 2009. Hatz, perhaps you and AA can get him a stromboli from Giovanni's before tomorrow's brouhaha.

Has anyone talked about how dangerous Danville's passing game can be? Alcorn has a heck of an arm and Cam Burgess and Colin Turner have made big receptions all year. If Monroe comes to stop the run they'll get beat by the pass. Danville's tough schedule made them mentally ready for games like this. If they protect the ball properly, they will win by 10-14 points. If they don't, it's anyone's game.

Don't believe me, go back to 2008 on here and find where I said anything about Boyle's 6 turnovers vs. Bell and then publically said Boyle was the better team in that 17-15 loss. Bell was the cause of many of the turnovers and deserved to win as much as Boyle would have deserved to win if they had scored on their final drive.
