Since the discussion had to be stopped in another thread, I thought I'd open another one up here.

What was the other discussion about? What did he do to be called scum?

It was about how he always burns bridges when he leaves town. He has lied about his interest in jobs, only to take that job a few days later. Fan bases hate him after he leaves, but maybe some of that is success. Basically that he has proven to be more of a me-first guy than most of us would like in a coach.

I'll say this the Alabama pre-season special seems like self-promotion because Saban also has new coaching material coming out.

He didn't handle the exit from the Dolphins very well but he's hardly unique. No coach is going to say "yes, I'm interested in getting a new gig despite the fact I've got a gig right now."

I'd take Nick Saban as my school's football coach and know that there's the chance he'll leave. Like almost every other coach.

Not scum. Most every high-profile coach says he's not interested in a job & then takes said job shortly thereafter.

I have no issue with Saban moving jobs or where he has gone. I do believe he mishandled the entire Miami situation which left a sour taste in people's mouth. His Pearl Harbor and 9/11 references were not a wise choice of words. I would not say he is scum. All these guys are ego maniacs and have some harsh qualities.

Before AL chimes in, yes we know Nick Saban donates to charities and is a good man.

That doesn't make you a good man.

I wasn't saying that is not a good coach. I don't even know if I think he's scum but I do know that he is not the angel Alabama Larry has painted him to be. I think it's naive, though perhaps understandably naive, that a Bama fan would take up for him and become offended when people do not think highly of him off the field.

Yes it does HT. Just give a million bucks to charities and you're automatically a great guy.

A coach is only a scum if he leaves UK and his name is Rick Pitino. :D

Don't throw rotton tomatoes...IT WAS JUST A JOKE!

Is forced giving still giving???

I don't understand?

If one is forced to provide money via a lawsut loss, is that still considered giving? I would say no.
