Nick Saban...Scum or Not Scum?

Callin' it like I see it. I didn't see the John Calipari...Scum or Not Scum? thread. I think it is funny how you call out one coach for a preview about his team, but one don't call out your coach for a DVD about his first season as UK coach...

You also called out Coach Saban for leaving for other jobs, but didn't call out your coach for leaving schools on probation...

Let's just see how far off-base you are in this argument, shall we?

1. This thread was created because it became a topic on another thread so I continued it here.

2. This is a football thread, if I wanted to include the smorgasbord of coaches who have done scummy things my post would fill up a page.

3. I don't remember Cal lying about taking a job, but if he did it's a crummy thing to do and you wouldn't see me taking up for him in that regard.

4. Nick Saban allowing ESPN to have full access is not very Saban-like. He's way too business for that kind of stuff, or has been in the past. Maybe it was to reward the team, maybe it was to promote his new coaching materials, maybe the devil made him do it...I don't know. But coming from him it doesn't seem normal.

5. I would never claim that Cal was not self-promotional. Draft-night and anytime he talks about UK fits that bill IMO.

6. I was not the one to call out Mr. Saban, in fact it didn't even cross my mind until I saw a few other members mention it.

7. It's kind of lame to play the "your coach does it too!!!" card. That's like someone getting caught cheating on a test and mad because the teacher didn't see anyone else doing the same thing. It's still not good.

But ignore facts if you must, I think it's funny. I love Saban as a coach, I think he's one of the best going. As far as off the field there are many coaches that I like less. But a spade is a spade, his track record says that he's not that great of a guy in how he deals with teams when he leaves. Cal's track record says he leaves behind a mess of problems. But, let's see how much you like Saban when he leaves, I promise you that unless Cal does something criminal off the court I will still like him because I have always been a fan of his. Sanctions or not, leaving for the NBA or not. Well...unless he left for UNC .

But to prove that I'm an equal opportunity guy, I'll make the JC Scum or not scum thread if it will make you sleep better at night.

I sleep fine at night, but to say you didn't call Saban out is a bit much since you did indeed start the thread. Personally I don't have a problem with either. Although I don't think Cal is as great as everyone thinks he is. He does have winning records but in the end it is all about championships, something that Coach Saban has 2 of.

I understand that the fan bases of both coaches love them and the fan bases of the schools that they left hate them. But I would bet that if the opportunity arose MSU and LSU would take back Saban as UMass would Calipari.

The only thing I don't understand is the point of starting a thread to personally bash a person?:confused::confused:

If calling him out is continuing a conversation by starting a thread, then fine throw me in that boat.:isurrender:
