Ryle QB Conner Hempel to appear on Season 2 of the reality show, THE RIDE!

Featured Replies

Conner was rated #1 on the show this week. I know about 5 QB's that are just as good or better.

Success at anything is usually a combination of skill, preparation and opportunity. Combines and camps are critical for players that want to get noticed, and most are open to everyone.

The show is about young men that are going to play at the next level(D1). If you would have paid attention at all, you would have noticed that they were interested in form, technique, ability to read coverages, arm strength, ability to learn, etc. I don't think that they were looking too much at their abiltiy to scramble, so that would eliminate some of the NKY QBs that you have on your list. As far as the coaches on the show, I'm pretty sure that they know what they are doing and this isn't their first rodeo... they may have recruited one or two kids before. They may not know as much as you, but they seem to be pretty good.

You simply dont know what you are talking about.

To add to Auscar and Larry - you're also remarkably rude and classless. Here's a thought - why don't you: Option 1 - simply congratulate the young man on his accomplishments and how well he did on the show and leave the smack talk for another thread, or Option 2 - not say anything at all.

I can think of several hundred posters that would greatly prefer you choose option #2.

BTW - VERY impressive opening performance by Hempel. Talk about representing yourself, your family, your school, and your community in a top-notch way . . . . .

I know nothing about Harvard and their athletic scholarship situation. I am just curious, does Harvard give full rides for football, basketball, baseball, soccer, etc.......? Can anyone answer this question and elaborate on how their program works?

Set up somewhat similar to D3 schools in that they don't have true athletic scholarships to give out, but squeeze out every dollar of academic money that they can for student-athletes they'd like to see in their program.

This post is not about others being better than him, it is about a talented young man that has accomplished doing something that many dream of. Congratulations Conner.

Half of the QBs on the show are scrambling QBs.

Funny thing about this show is 2 Kentucky quarterbacks are on it and 0 Ohio quarterbacks.

That's because all of the good QB's in OH have already commited somewhere, including one of the best in the nation who was the first QB invited to the Army game. This is for people under the radar, guess Lawrence is off the grid?

Yes, but they don't throw lollipops back across the middle of the field late, and they don't throw into the flat against press coverage. Arm strength and decision making ability are big factors.

Another nice showing for Conner in latest segment of The Ride. The coaches have him ranked as their #1 QB overall to this point, but made him think he is in the bottom 3 because they would like to see him show some more emotion on the field. When told this, Conner reacted in his typical humble, polite fashion stating that he felt he deserved to be ranked low and knows they expect to see more intensity out of him. Next week the coaches will pare down the remaining 5 QB's to 3. Got to like Conner's chances to move on and get closer to earning a spot in the Army All-American Bowl.
