October 12, 201016 yr They are un-American and cowards I will agree that the are un-American because they are un-any country. But cowards? Are you a coward because you haven't started a company and created jobs?
October 12, 201016 yr Let me ask you...we workers, we middle class citizens, we poverty line citizens...we're all supposed to be patriotic, understand that we should pay more in taxes, understand that our wages don't increase to match inflation, understand that companies have to lay us off to move their operations overseas.... But Corporate America has no call to patriotism....but that's OK becuase they make money if they don't.
October 12, 201016 yr They are un-American and cowards Right, because so many Americans DON'T do what's in their best interest. They always buy american even if it's more expensive. They turn down jobs from foreign headquartered companies. I would say they operate exactly like the majority of americans, and with the same amount of courage.

Like 75 said, as long as "we" don't 100% buy made in America "we" are no different then corporate America. As long as corporate America is having to fork over 40% of their revenue to the federal government they are going to move to other countries. Why, because in the end if they don't make money they won't survive.

If those other countries are so much better, why aren't the big wigs moving their families to those countries? I don't see many of them moving their corporate headquarters to Guatemala but they are certainly providing them some jobs.

There is nothing more American IMO than buying the highest quality product available at the cheapest price, whether it is made in America or not. If we want production in our economy again, maybe we should become a competative labor force. If not, mayber we should make ourselves a viable employee in a labor market that is available in our economy. Either way, American workers have priced themselves out of having unskilled labor jobs.

And what does living there and opening a factory there have to do with one another? No one said Vietnam was great country to live but they are very attractive country cost wise to open a manufacturing facility because labor costs are so low.

Do you buy only American made products?

Look at the thread as a whole and don't just focus on the specific post. Everyone needs to be patriotic except for companies, because capitalism knows no boundaries. It only knows the bottom line. The American workforce has not priced itself out of work, companies are going to places where they can exploit human beings like they did here early last century. It is always about exploitation when you move. Companies are making record profits, which means they could make less profits, but still be profitable and employ Americans. What is so American about buying the best thing at the cheapest price? There is nothing patriotic in that.

That's it, especially the publicly traded companies. The more profits they make the more people buy their stock, the more successful the company is. As long as they can make their product cheaper else where they will. As far as companies moving to places where they can exploit human beings give me a break. They are going where they can make the most money. The leaders of those countries are the ones exploiting humans. Let me ask you ace, do you shop at Wal-Mart? What kind of car do you drive? Do you make sure to buy only made in the USA?
