Definitely NOT making anything up.

 

The gentlemen (there were 6 in the group that we spoke with--including everyone else around us) stated that they felt the only obstacle that Mayfield has was the travel for possible 3rd/4th round games. They spoke intelligently of their competition (including players, coaches and knew the numbers of specific players for the competition who would be tough match ups--which really impressed me because I have seen basically everyone that is worth seeing) ... and why they thought that this was one of the best Mayfield teams in the past 20 years.

 

I thought it was great conversation ... and felt like those guys knew what they were talking about (especially since they did not have kids playing on the team).

 

So .. people can say what they want about me .... and what I say.

But at the end of the day ... I am only repeating I conversation that I have had in the recent past (I am not even going into the conversations I have had in previous weeks).

Call me skeptical ...

I'm in agreement that there's simply no way to crown anyone this early. I get tired of posturing from opposing regions from time to time running down another program.

Question all you want .... that is your right ... but you need to realize that some of us have a pretty good clue what we are talking about .. even if we are NOT from WKY.

 

I don't make it a habit to ask for names of opposing teams fans ... I do that specifically so they don't try to figure out who I am or where I am from (not real sure why that is hard to understand).

For whatever the reason (you can figure it out), I see a lot of football .... and I have a pretty good feel for who is good, who is bad and who is clueless when it comes to Class A football.

This group of men knew about all the same teams (historically good and obscure) as well as players to watch out for in Class A (again--well known players and obscure).

 

Not real sure what else to say about it.

I know what I saw, experienced and spoke about this weekend.

You, on the other hand, can not answer that question with intelligence when it comes to my personal situation.

 

IN regard to the thread (to get us back on track) .... the answer is YES. Any team from the toughest Class A district in the state is automatically a legit contender.

Hopefully they get the opportunity to battle Mayfield to take away the runner up trophy in Bowling Green.

But, you know, I can go watch a ballgame from two teams in the other part of the state, strike up a conversation with fans and do the same thing you're doing ... regardless of whether or not it's true or the "fans" I'm referring to are all that knowledgable.

Fair enough. But with that said ... after you do it a while ... you can usually tell the difference between the ones who know and the ones who don't.
